Unless I'm missing something the attack bonus for a Monk using a Quarterstaff at level 1 with 15 dex should be +4 (+2 Proficiency bonus, and +2 Dex bonus).
It seems like either the character sheet is not calculating the Dex or the proficiency bonus. The Quarterstaff is a Simple Weapon, and Monks should have proficiency in using it.
It's possible that the problem is with the Quarterstaff's Versatile property.
Regardless, I believe that I've calculated this correctly. Curious if this is a bug, or whether the Monk doesn't get Proficiency bonus with this staff (i.e. working as intended).
I had this problem as well - I was testing out the builder and created a quick Air Genasi monk. But on the final sheet, it uses the quarterstaff as a Strength-based attack, rather than Dex. Is there a way to change this in character creation?
I believe it is a bug or mis-tagging of the weapons as under 'Martial Arts' on Page 78 in the PHB it gives as example of an attack with a quarterstaff as a monk weapon (thereby allowing you to take an unarmed strike as a bonus.) It seems like weapons such as quarterstaff, spear, club etc are not being tagged as monk weapons, and therefore are taking the stats for STR based attack instead of DEX.

Ah, you're right. It's using the Strength modifier rather than Dexterity.
I wasn't sure which one it was, but I assumed it was a Proficiency problem.
