is it a glitch that chaos bolt reads as poison damage only? or is it to hard for the macro to chose the random energy type and you just manually have to change the damage type? just didn't want to run into the issue of finding a npc with resistance or immunity to poison and not doing damage when it is a random energy type. thank you for your time.
It lists it as acid damage (not poison) with a * which means there's more information. When you click on the spell it will open the pop-out window which lists all the damage types. Acid is first - so I assume that's why it's normally listed as acid damage on the sheet.
The damage is always based on the 2d8's you roll for the spell and you always get to choose which of the two d8's decides the damage - unless of course the d8's are the same - in which case you get to roll a new attack against someone else - so it's (nearly) always good.
