I tried searching but couldn't find this in a discussion.
I have found that additional damage dice added to a critical attack isn't added when you get bonuses from racial traits or added feats.
For example, if you are playing a half-orc and have the piercer ability you should get 4 dice for that critical hit from a piercing melee weapon. Currently, it only rolls 2 dice when you get a crit through D&D beyond.
I think it would be nice if the program added the additional damage you add from feats and racial traits.
Ok, the reason that it doesnt double the damage dice is for the reason of some abilities giving different dice damage, such as a Gloom Stalker's 3rd level ability giving and extra 1d8 damage. While that also gets doubled to 2d8 on a crit, the system isnt going to know where you are putting that extra weapon damage die, to the base weapon dmg or to your ability dmg die.
Not to mention I think they are still working on getting the system to include a function to allow you to click a second die roll from the weapon, or does it automatically for you. Otherwise all you can do is create a second Action under Manage Customs on the Action page for those extra dice.
I can see not adding damage dice that are different than the damage die, the Crit you get from being a Half-orc is just one more damage die which is the same with the piercer ability.
I didn't even know about the Manage customs was there until you said so. I doubt everyone does know that option is there. The feature is small and disappears when you scroll down on the All page. It would be far easier for players to have the damage included automatically when they roll the damage or next to the weapon's damage which is why I said it would be nice to have.
If you want people to use a feature like Manage Customs you need to tell people that it exists. Put that information under the feat or the trait. "You can create a button for these damage rolls by adding them by clicking manage customs". Make the text more prominent or provide text over to let people know what it does.
