I've never been a huge fan of the CR system - I don't really understand it, and it seems extraneous to me when compared to the XP system. So I was initially going to suggest that we be able to filter monsters by XP as well as by CR - but then I realised I couldn't see XP at all anywhere on the Monsters page.
If it is there, I'd say it could use a bit more visibility, and I'd still like to be able to filter by it.
A monster's CR, and it's XP value since that is tied to CR, displays just to the left of Armor Class.
As for using CR, in 5th edition it is really just a rough benchmark that is meant to be easily referenced; CR 5 monster? Normal sized level 5 party that isn't under-equipped and/or worn down from prior battles will probably win without anyone in the party tasting dirt.
It wouldn't be as intuitive if you just had the CR 5 monster's 1,800 XP value to determine when it is a good idea to use that monster, since that doesn't line up naturally with the party's level or any other trait.
As for sorting by XP as well as CR, I'm not opposed to the idea - for people that are building out encounters I'm sure it'd be very helpful, even though I'd never use that feature because I primarily wing it when DMing, and even when I do plan things out a bit I don't care about whether an encounter is "balanced" or not, just that it is interesting for the players to engage with in some way even if that way is "Yeah, we run. Far, and fast."

I'm not sure if I'm blind or it just isn't there.
