- Please add a category of items for spell components.
- Under that category please add all (M) spell components as items that can easily be added to character sheet and tracked.
- If you do not add them all please add all of the ones with a GP values or are destroyed on spell casting. (focus makes the others mostly not an issue)
- Bonus: Link this in to the spells to tell you if you can or can not cast that spell based on inventory.
Using custom items for spell component has been clunky for me so far playing a wizard.
I see now that they have actual containers, I would even suggest link the spells to the component pouch and have the materials actually stored in it. Of course also need to have the code to also look for a spell focus in the inventory if components are not available.
Look at the spells like Secret Chest, Simulacrum, Forcecage, Contingency, and all the different resurrection spells. These all have very expensive components that need to be tracked.
As a spell caster wouldn’t it be reasonable to assume most components other then high valued exceptions be purchased via cost of living expense?
Maybe for basis stuff but not for the spells I listed...
Probably comes down to the DM requirements. If the component has a huge cost, then players will either have to purchase the material or find it in the world to be able to cast. With the option of a spell focus or a component pouch, if the pouch is chosen, then would like components to be available and if a spell consumes the components, they need to be replaced. In my worlds, I add vendors for the players to shop from. Components are just another option to shop for or loot from caster NPC's.
