When creating a custom race, I was attempting to add a racial trait to give Proficiency in an artisan's tool of the player's choice. I discovered that a single tool must be specified, or one of the pre-existing subsets of tools.
There are two options available that are similar to what I was looking for: the Dwarf race and the Bounty Hunter background have their own subset of artisan tools that they can be proficient with. It would be fantastic if homebrew traits could be allowed to create a subsets of tools where the player can perform a "Pick One" to decide which tool they are proficient with.
Preferably, brewers would have the option to designate the entire list of tools, (whereas a player could choose any one artisan tool to gain proficiency) or a subset (see: Dwarves and Bounty Hunters).
