Is there going to be a uniformity across stat-blocks? Some statblocks have descriptions, others don't. Outside of the core statistics in the graphical block, it tends to vary.
The reason this is relevant is that I'm using DnD Beyond as a source medium for multiple VTTs that I run my games in. In otherwords, I have a little importer that parses stat blocks into that VTT's particular format. These VTTs allow purchasable modules, but given that I use multiple platforms, I'd rather not buy duplicates for each platform, and just use DnD Beyond.
We uploaded every description from the Monster Manual and Volo's Guide to Monster. So, each monster should have a short description (coming from the Basic Rules) and the long description from Monster Manual/Volo's Guide.

Maybe post a few examples of ones you feel are missing information?

And these are just from the basic rules. I own the PHB/DMG/Xanders here on DnD Beyond and I'm debating getting the MM/Volo but the vast majority of my creatures are custom made. Common things like fire beetles and such I grab here and there but given the non-uniformity I may not get the MM or Volo as I'd be getting it primarily to run through my parser.
Only with the purchase of MM and/or Volo's you will unlock the long descriptions in the monster listing.
Ape doesn't have a description in the MM as well. For Balor and Animated Armor the long description from the MM are uploaded.
For some reason free accounts can't see Balor description. Also I tested a free account getting my content by share and a monster like Aarakocra does not have the description shown on the free account.

The stats of Balor is from both Basic Rules and MM, so the free account can see it. But the Description is from the MM only, so the free account can't see it.
As far as I can remember, yes, content by sharing is not supposed to unlock the description on the listing. But I am gonna check this one.
Unless I'm mistaken, it's because Balor's stats come from the SRD (which has no descriptions), since the Balor is not provided by the Basic Rules (which do have basic descriptions for some - but not all - monsters... even the Monster Manual doesn't waste space trying to describe common beasts like apes, weasels, wolves, etc ).
As an example: In the SRD, the Fire Giant has no description, just its statblock. In the Basic Rules, it has a 37 word description. In the Monster manual, it has more than 600 words Volo's Guide adds another 1500 words.
So if a monster comes from the SRD and not any of the other sources, then there's not going to be a description available for free users. If the monster is found in the DM's Basic Rules then it might get a one or two sentence description for free users.
I'd much rather have DnD Beyond put the description or lair actions or legendary action tags in all monster entries. Even if you don't own the respective book leaving the content under the header blank. The presence of the tag itself gives some uniformity and perhaps you can even add bonus text indicating that more is available if you purchase X content.
