Dnd beyond feels so much more streamlined and helpful than apps such as roll20, but the 2 glaring issues I've run into are that there is no log for dice rolls in the character sheet, and the only way to override attunement slots for a high magic campaign is to make a homebrew feat that only gives you 3 extra.
The dice log for dice rolls is tied to campaigns. Put character in a campaign and you can then access the dice log from your sheet.
While D&D Beyond features some homebrew support it's primary purpose is to facilitate the Rules as Written. The homebrew we can use is an extension, or "lite", version of the same tools they use to create official content: so we are typically limited to replicating official things for our homebrew. Since nothing official allows for more than 6 slots the tools only allow for a maximum of 6 slots. If you're in a heavily homebrewed campaign where you need more than 6 slots - just make a homebrew copy of the item you want, remove the attunement requirement, and add that to the sheet instead. It's mere seconds.

Just do this.
I had a campaign for a bunch of kids where I wanted to ensure death was due to repeated fails, so I gave them a feat that doubled their standard HP by adding more. You already worked out how to do it. Add homebrew feats to give the additional capabilities you want to checks notes homebrew.
