It would be nice to have a "Buy" button for items under "Add Items" that would allow you to add the item to your inventory and deduct the cost from your currency. The same applies to "Sell" from your inventory.
It would need a Cost (GP) entry box, which could be prepopulated for common items set by the user when buying non-common items (e.g., from an in-game shop).
This would be particularly handy when equipping a new character, as well as when buying/selling during the game. As it stands, buying starting equipment involves a lot of switching between tabs and/or keeping a tally and then applying the total to Currency.
Similarly, the Currency tab would benefit from "Add"/"Remove" buttons and entry boxes.
The math isn't onerous for most people, but these would be a welcome quality of life improvement.
Most standard mundane items have a price which is visible when you select the item. It would be good if Homebrew allowed us to do something similar though. Then at least a "buy" option for non-magical equipment would be easy.
When it comes to magic items however, the prices vary wildly per campaign. You could use the 'standard pricing' from the DMG but that's a very broad and questionably applicable value.
If by the "Currency Tab" you mean the Manage Coin panel, it does have Add/Remove buttons? If you're doing character creation and buying equipment, it's far better to take the gold option, then buy the equipment in the character sheet, where you can see all the prices and your current gold in one hit.
