I’d love to see D&D Beyond add a Shop Generator tool for Dungeon Masters. It would make creating and running shops much easier and more immersive.
Shop Generator Features
Random Item Generation – Quickly stock a shop with items pulled from equipment lists, treasure tables, or magic item catalogs.
Post-Generation Editing – After a shop is generated, allow DMs to remove, add, or swap out items — including homebrew items — so each shop feels unique.
Suggested Prices – Automatic baseline prices (RAW, average market, or randomized with modifiers for scarcity, city size, or rarity).
Shopkeeper Details – Generate NPC shopkeepers with personality, alignment, description, and quirks (e.g., haggles too much, secretly tied to a thieves’ guild, etc.).
Customization Options – Filters and checkboxes such as:
Settlement size (hamlet, village, town, city, metropolis)
Shopkeeper alignment or demeanor (friendly, greedy, shady, eccentric, etc.)
Extra Features –
“Refresh stock” button for recurring shops
Notes section for story hooks or rumors tied to the shop
Ability to save shops for re-use between sessions
Integration with player wishlists so items they’re seeking might appear
Campaign/DM Tools
Campaign Shop Tab – All saved shops accessible in a dedicated campaign tab for both in-person and online play.
Town/City Builder – Tools for DMs to create and save settlements, complete with shops, NPCs, and story hooks.
Map Integration – Upload or build maps for towns, cities, and regions.
Player Access – A shared view (via RSS or in-app) so players can browse maps, towns, and shops in the campaign world.
D&D Beyond already shines as a rules reference and character manager. But by adding these features, it could evolve into a true campaign builder and world management platform, supporting both published adventures and homebrew worlds. DMs could keep everything — from shopkeepers to custom maps — inside one tool, making preparation and play faster, smoother, and more immersive.
