The new dice roller sucks. They look worse, take up more of the screen, and get cocked more often. I can't imagine what possessed anyone to think this would improve things. If I had an alternative site for rolling, I'd switch immediately.
I'm not sure what you mean. The 3D dice on the map? Pretty freaking awesome! The dice rolled on the character sheet? It does look a bit bigger but hasn't caused any more cocking than before that I've noticed. The dice themselves look fine. They even gave me some new ones I didn't have already.
I don't like it, but I still think it is a good option for someone who needs bigger dice to see them better. I just wish we could toggle between big and small is all. But I also agree the new big dice roll really oddly. They also cover up the results popup way too much too easily.
The feature has only just released so it's early days and they can make revisions/adjustments. Also it is possible to turn off—disabling digital dice stops them appearing anyway and setting your rolls to Self (as the DM) and DM (as a player) limits who dice are displayed too.
I think my main points of feedback would be:
A toggle to turn off displaying digital dice in general. Maybe a dropdown with the option to display All/DM/Own/None
A dice size toggle; Small/Medium/Large. I think the large dice are a good accessibility option, but some people are just here for the aesthetics
Although the options to do so are still there, i can't get it to roll with advantage or disadvantage, it only does straight rolls now for me. They also need it to show the math, they seemed to have removed that as well.
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
Playing D&D since 1982
Have played every version of the game since Basic (original Red Box Set), except that abomination sometimes called 4e.
I just rolled 20d20, and they're all piled up and not going away -- I suspect it's still waiting for them to be flat on the surface. I can reopen the roller window, but it's obscured by dice. (I managed to get a roll out of it, and the new roll worked fine, but the big pile of twenties isn't going anywhere.)
Performance on the animations is very noticeably worse than the old version.
When rolling multiple dice, they clump together a lot more than they did on the old one, which is probably why they tend to end up jacked more. They seem to all be "thrown" from the same position, when the old one seemed to space them out a bit more?

This! If I'm creating a character with a modified dice roll for stats, I have no idea what the actual dice were anymore, as much as the new (larger) dice look locked and stack atop each other - I actually had a stack of 3 this morning.
Also, I agree that whatever dice rolling algorithm had been in place has been tampered with; personal bias has the dice rolling much lower than they had been.
Not a fan of the new change to dice at all, and the poll shows me to be in the majority.
I like the dice stream. A size toggle would be nice as I agree they are too large (pixelated slightly even due to their size I presume).
The lego dice animation of the falling pieces is particularly clunky - at least comparing it to the same dice rolled in the encounter builder (which has old dice still, would be nice to get the update across the whole site). The extras kinda just spawn in staticly for a bit before falling awkwardly - no where near as nice of an animation in my opinion. Of course I haven't looked at all the the dice yet, but inital reaction the animation/look feels like a downgrade. The animation and look is my primary reason for buying dice. If I'm disabling them because the look is bad/they obscure things (can't click to have them go away faster like old ones) I likely wouldn't buy more.
Hopefully at least some of the visual issues can be resolved because as a whole I like the features that have been added and potential ones that could work with the new dice system.
I really don't like the new dice roller or the new game log, it requires too much clicking around to open up a sidebar that takes up a third of your character sheet just to see a single roll in a log that you for some reason can't clear out without reopening your sheet.
GPU usage for me has skyrocketed since the update, as high as 220%, even on pages where no dice have been rolled (but could be). That said, the resolution of the dice appears worse due to the increased size, I receive the result of the roll before the dice themselves have finished rolling, and the results remain on-screen for rather a long time. The main issue I have is the GPU issue, so if anybody else has experienced similarly and have a fix (or know where I can find one), I'd appreciate it.
There needs to be a toggle to display Dice on the map or not. Turning off dice rolling in the character sheet is not acceptable for online play, but the animations are very distracting.
The performance lags other windows. The VTT is supposed to be accessible, and not require a beefy brand new computer. Thanks to AI those are out of price ranges these days. This isn't Sigil, so we don't all have the latest video cards (which are all used for AI and bitcoin anyway).
On a number of test rolls, the dice blocked the actual result notification, so I couldn't see what I rolled totalled up.
This is a badly executed and poorly tested change to a dice system that was fine and reliable. The basic function should be to roll dice and it no longer manages this bare minimum without issue. It is disappointing to find a clearly rushed and ill thought out update was allowed. Speaks to management failure as these problems should’ve been caught at several stages during development. Glaring errors only go through when someone in management is too toxic to be told something is not ready for launch or they do not allow the Dev Team time to produce quality work. Additionally, I do not want other people’s dice rolls crashing across my screen while I try to read spell choices in prep for my turn.

THE DICE STAY ON THE SCREAN WAY TO LONG

Also had several rolls not register in the log.

pronouns: he/she/they
Why are they so massive? It feels like they take up too much of the screen compared to before.

I have had the result blocking issue as well. Great fun when trying to roll up a new character...

If I roll with the dice roller off, it doesn't highlight a natural 1 or a natural 20, making it easy to miss critical hits or critical fails.
