So I am unsure if this has already been said, but the following from page 125 of the PHB "If a character would gain proficiency(skill or tool) from a different sources, he or she can choose a different proficiency of the same kind (skill or tool) instead. This comes into play when picking your background because one can get the skill proficies from their class that a particular background gives and then they can pick any of the skill proficiencies. In place of background proficiencies.
Improvement: Automatically add equipment for the class and background when creating a new character. Choices should be presented with descriptions of the item you pick between. Currently manually searching for and adding all the equipment seems like unnecessary manual work. Adding a pack should add all the items inside it. Maybe in a dropdown so you can collapse/expand the pack? This could be made general for all item bundles and support custom bundles at a later time.
Yeah, each time I try to "add" something I get redirected back to the top of the list. Having items separated by equipment type would be great too one big list to WAY too much to scroll through, especially when most of the items at the top aren't starting items.

seconded! manual adding is useful in certain circumstances, but it would be nice to not have to manually open and close the manage equipment box for each item. Even just being able to see the class and background equipment list while the manage equipment box is open would be an improvement.
This may have already mentioned, but I noticed the "outlander" background isn't a choice. It's in the original PHB, and I noticed Elemental Evil race and spell additions are included, so I'm just wondering why an original background is missing. I always choose this background for my Druid :(

For the beta, only the rules and options provided in the D&D 5th edition SRD , D&D 5th edition Basic Rules, Elemental Evil Companion are available in Beyond. Once the full platform launches later this summer, the core rule books and others will be available for purchase, and the content within will be available for those that purchase, or have access through a DM's subscription.
Yes! Having available starting equipment for your respective background and class to choose from would save so much time scrolling through the gigantic list. A search feature would be nice as well. Like if you know you want a cold related item, you can just type it in a search bar and all items with cold in the name would come up. Having search results categorized by item type (armor, weapon, potion, etc) would be great as well.
Love this!!! I was making a druid with a folk hero background and noticed the "animal handling" proficiency modifier didn't apply itself in the skills page. But other than that can't wait for the full release!!!!
My main issue is it sets the creation as a step by step process. It should instead have icons for each, so you can choose your own order for making the characters.
Another problem (related to above) is Background. Its located in the backstory section, which makes sense, but that isbone of the last things you choose about your character. This leads into...
The system does not prevent skill proficiency overlap. You can choose the same skill proficiency multiple times, ending in wasted slots. For someone experienced this isnt a big deal, but by the time you get to backgrounds, you may not remember what you chose for class skill proficiencies (or if you choose a race with optional extras).
Another issue (more like a bug probably) is if you choose Half Elf/Variant Human, it lets you choose which ability scores to increase. But when you get to the stat page, it does not reflect these choices, and so you have to put them in manually. This should be automatic. Also side note: Half Elves shouldn't getarisma, since they already get it.
With subraces, they should be contained within the parent races they belong to. This would help contain the list a bit.
I have also heard that the XP and HP systems are a bit weird but I didnt mess with those too much.
I think a great addition is they should have an updating view of your sheet on the side(or even in another window) that changes as you make more choices. I think this is a great feature of OrcPub2.
Tbh they should just look at OrcPub2 for a lot of the functionality.
Positive feedback; I like that you can easily be brought to further descriptions and reference material. I like that the sheet is automatically created. I also like that they have pictures and visuals with everything.
Again having it be a bit more visual and less linear would be great, making sure some things are automatic, and in general fix it up more. It is already more visually pleasing than OrcPub2, which is not laid out the best
EDIT: another issu I discovered is wizard spells. It does not say how many I can know. If I am level 1 I should automatically only be able to choose 6.
An interesting bug: I built a random level 20 sorcerer and tweaked the ability scores into standard array, and fixed the ability score improvements to focus on CON and CHA scores a little too much and it didn't stop me. Next thing I knew I knew I broke through bounded accuracy, as my sorcerer had 21 Charisma without the aid of a magic item, or manual override.
I'm not - nor was I ever - your "obstacle" until you've deemed me as such, nor am I your wallet, my hard earnt money is not yours by deault.
Je suis Consumer - We are the foundation, the floor beneath your rug. our support is the fate of every retail product, business, and franchise. for success you need support.
I will always miss what you were, but I will never miss what you've become.
Don't know if you already answered, but will be possible to create a character above lvl 20?
Isn't that a question we should ask WotC first? :P

Another minor thing (I report them as I find them, sorry for being a nuisance) spell mastery and signature spell don't automatically keep the spells as always prepped, or even in your spells known, (I used the randomizer, it took me 6 tries until I could get a level 20 character with a competent primary stat, but the stats I finally got were all around impressive. :P)

Love the builder! Only thing I've noticed with it is that when I go to add arrows to my characters, increments of 20 or higher cause a loading freeze for me.
Sorry to barge in, but, on the character build sheet for Paladins there is only the Oath of Devotion options. Will the other paths come in a later update?
Also ( as you can tell I am a Paladin) I tried in the fear section to select Heavy Armor Master. However only Grapler & a very odd unfamiliar feat showed up too. Is there a reason why I can not see/select the other feats.
Not too bad for a character builder. Being able to switch back and forth from race, class, abilities, etc on the fly (without having to complete each section first) is definitely a plus.
However, I noticed something that isn't quite a bug, but more like a "I'm going to write in my character sheet with permanent marker" sort of issue.
When trying to make a multiclass character, you are given a choice to dump levels into any of the classes you have selected. However, if you select one of the numbers available, it locks the choice in, and the number can only go up, not down.
I tried making a level 5 paladin warlock (Pal 2 / War 3) and accidentally selected 3 levels of paladin. When trying to revert that change, there is no option to do so.
I tried this again (with different classes, just to be safe) and this is a permanent change. I understand that when you level up, you usually only plan on upgrading one level at a time. Also, if you aren't multiclassing, this isn't an issue. However, if you want to start out with a higher level character, this can be frustrating, as you would need to make the character all over again. Even worse, say you used this creator and had it set for a campaign that you've been playing for a year or so, then accidentally add one wrong level to a class - you need to completely remake the character sheet.
Again, not a deal-breaker for the builder, just an inconvenient feature. (ALSO, I didn't read every single page of this forum; so if someone posted this already, sorry!)

Is there a way to identify a equipped weapon as a pact weapon (whether its created in a specific instance or a magical weapon chosen to be one)?
If not, being able to denote one would be useful. if its already been discussed, I've missed it. Great work as always.

As the male-dominated worlds of tech and geekdom collide, one wouldn't think to find such a subtle nod to social progress, and yet...
