HAs anyone heard about when you put on armour that has disadvantage on Stealth getting the handy Disadvantage icon next to the Stealth check value. I know it is by the armour but honestly you rarely look there when doing a stealth check.

As a player you should keep track of such things on your own. Your GM should be aware of it as well, but it's the player's responsibility to hold to it.

"............anybody got any potatoes? We could drop a potato in each hole an' see which ones get viciously mauled by horrible monsters?"
Considering the icon by the armor isn't even visible on mobile, and you have to look up every armor option separately to pick one, I think there could be some improvement here.

As the player choosing the armor, wouldn't you know until you found/bought a new set?

Only after looking it up in item listings. And I am forgetful. And keep having to check. Plus we have inexperienced players who dont know because it doesn't tell them and I have to check them too.
The best I've been able to do is click on the Stealth skill and click customise. Put some text into all the notes section like "Disadvantage" and the Stealth skill will become blue. It being blue should remind you there's something special about it. It's not ideal but it works.
Yes you should. But people forget. The point of the icon is to help you remember. If you play once a month and haven’t done a stealth check in a session, you could so easily forget. The point of pointing it out is to help make the app better to help people remember.
True, but if not red and green (the most common colour blindness targets) blue and yellow would work well enough. It's rare for those with colour blindness to be unable to see ALL colours, typically it's just reds & greens.

The icon is already next to the armor in the equipment section. It should be trivial to move/copy it to the skills section? IMO, it would be a lot more intuitive that way.
Is it really that hard to remember that if you're wearing plate armor you get disadvantage on Stealth rolls?
With this logic why even have a character sheet at all? Individually is it really that hard to remember you have a long sword that does 1d8 damage? Is it really that hard to remember you passive perception is 17? Is it really that hard to remember your AC is 19? Etc, etc, etc....
But as a whole there are a ton of details on the sheet and I can't remember them all. That's why the character sheet exists. As DM I'm then expected to remember all of those details for 4-6 players plus monsters and the storyline?

I applaud your memory. Mine isn't nearly so good.
So yeah it is that hard to remember.
I didn't say GMs should remember all the facts for all their PCs. It's the Player's responsibility to know their stuff.

The point is: how is a player expected to remember something that may not have checked in months and never showed up on their character sheet in the first place?
Several of the players I play with don't check each of their equipment's description pages and only go by the character sheet. And did I mention:
Considering the icon by the armor isn't even visible on mobile, and you have to look up every armor option separately to pick one, I think there could be some improvement here.
So no, it is not that hard to remember every detail of every rule in the PHB if you read them as often as some of us, but for the average player who barely glances at the PHB and only uses their character sheets, this is a real problem.
I'm normally the first guy to scoff at those who cry for every possible convenience for sake of being lazy but on this case I am siding with the request, here. Now, sure, it is the player's responsibility to track their own stuff and remember things. However, we have to realise that there is a lot to remember. It's not just the case of remembering what armour you wear, for all sorts of things can grant long-lasting advantage or disadvantage to skill checks such as curses, items, racial traits, feats, class features, spells, boons, and maybe more. There have been times when I've made a stealth check and only later, after being discovered because of a low roll and having a battle and looting.. That I see my Boots of Elvenkind and then remember oh, right, I had advantage on that.
If you play digitally - whether because you like it, need to because you're playing online or because you like being eco-friendly and don't want to print out paper sheets - you are largely restricted to just ths character sheet and while it is very good at what it does, unlike a paper sheet you cannot just write an A or D next to things to indicate advantage or disadvantage to help you remember. This is totally the type of thing a digital sheet should be helping to track and display for you. We have advantage/disadvantage notes or symbols for Saving Throws and Initiative - is it really so hard to have it for skills too? It shouldn't be, the modifiers are there already, when you homebrew things.
Advantage and disadvantage can be applied briefly, for long periods or permanently and can be given through a more than considerable amount of sources. Having the sheet help track this would be fantastic. Not everyone has a good memory. Constantly switching between your sheet and notepad everytime you make a skill check is a nuisance, especially if making a lot of notes and have to ' go back' to where you noted skill adv/dis and then return to place and then your character sheet for the roll number... It is troublesome and breaks the flow.

just add a custom skill and call it 'Stealth (Disadvantage)'. Also, over-ride the value of the regular stealth skill to some crazy negative number. Between the two, it'll remind you.
i have a dwarf with the extra bonus to history checks when it comes to stone work...i added the skill 'History (Stonecutting)' and it reminds me just fine...otherwise, yeah, there's no way I'd ever remember.

No, but it is really hard to remember between half plate, breastplate, scale mail, chain mail, and chain shirt which have disadvantage and which don't.
Instead of an icon, i'd suggest changing the font colour to red for disadvantage and green for advantage.
