I was wondering if it was possible for recovery of your character if something happened. For example if you accidentally deleted a character or later wanted to use that character again. One such case was being killed outright by your DM only to have him /her reconsider and say your character is alive or perhaps a quest given to revive him/her/it.
My thought isn't something that would be a long time, perhaps a few days (30 days) where older characters could be recovered. Perhaps the same could be done for changes done as well. Up to 30 days or x number of changes to the character would be able to be recovered. Make some changes you think would be awesome to a character and realize it was really stupid.. just revert. Much faster than manually doing it and much faster than Pen and paper. Just a few clicks. ;)
In any case I love what has been done so far with D&D Beyond. (However, my pocketbook doesn't :P )
If your character was accidentally deleted, you might be able to get it recovered by contacting support.
As for the other stuff: other people have pitched/requested a character sheet changelog before, and I like that idea. A "return to previous version" button could be added to that changelog.
I dont think being able to easily recover deleted characters is a great idea though. It goes against the purpose of deletion and can/will be exploited to try to get around the 6 free character limit.

The "return to previous version" is nice.
My thought of the recovery would be for a short time. I hadn't considered cheating but if the time frame is short say 3 days or something it will really make it hard to do that. Being that most games are once a week (as far as I have experienced) however, if you accidentally deleted your primary instead of the copy that you were messing with.. That can be a quick fix and not need to take the staff to help.
Here is what happened that made me think of this. I was working on some characters.. different ones trying to get some inspiration. Well worked on one for an hour or more over 3 days thinking and tweaking. Pretty nice.. I made a different path on another one and thought I liked it better. Deleted the other one.. After a day, I came back and realized I really liked the first version I was working on. So I had to recreated it and tweak it yet again. That was a pain that a recovery would help.
One solution for the abuse of the system, Character recovery only is valid with a subscription. (which I have). Which as everybody knows has unlimited character creation.
