So, I'm trying to create a race, basically of sentient golems. But I am having the most tremendous difficulty making changes.
I was able to create the full race and its subraces at first, but editing them has been a nightmare. You can't simply update a subrace with something that needs to be fixed after playtesting- you need to specify that you're making a new version on another tab. As such, I have three published versions of the same subrace. It's my own fault for overlooking that, but I feel it should be made clearer. And there's no way to delete your creations, even if you make two of the exact same thing. That's not easy once people have access to it- everyone who has something in their collection suddenly has it disappear- but I would appreciate a streamlined way of updating class features.
Now, here's the BIG issue I'm having: on top of the subraces, I want to edit the main race. But I can't do that without running into the aforementioned problems, and here's the worst part: even though the subraces already exist, I have to specify that this creation will have subraces, and then I have to manually re-enter all the same subrace information from before. I want to edit the parent race without having to jump through fifty hoops. The subraces already clarify that they have a parent race- the one I'm trying to edit- so it makes no sense that I would have to start over with them.
I'm not the only one having problems with this, right? If I am the only one, please refer me to the proper resources.
You aren't supposed to publish homebrew you are still testing.
And when you create a new version, it automatically combines with the older versions in public homebrew. So Mytari only shows up once when searching your name.
I do agree that it should be easier to update races with subraces though.
