Wizard just closed his D&D Insider (December 31, 2019), including the much praised Character builder with the 5e edition (see here the reason why: http://ddi.wizards.com). Is there any plans to have a character builder using 5e edition setting here at D&D Beyond?
I already own the basics books for the 5e edition (paper version, I'm an old school guy), but being able to update a character as it lives on is still way easier than doing it all by pen & paper.
I tried the current character builder and it looks pretty nice. I could see myself using it for the 5e edition.
However I am now confused. I tried to create a paladin (actually recreate the one I had with Insider). At some point using DDB, I see have slot for spells and even an extra attack at level 5. As far as I know, the 5e edition use a system of an Standard Action, a Move Action and a Minor Action. There is no more extra attack (except for the Action points, but that's another story) and there are no spell slot. The 5e edition I know use At-Will, Encounter or Daily powers. There are others items and informations while creating a character that looks much more like the 4th edition or a mixed set of rules.
Maybe we are not talking about the same 5e edition source?
My deepest apologies. I went back to my books and realized I had the 4e edition all this time (while believing it was actually the 5e edition). I don't know why, someone must have put a spell on me 3 years ago and I lived on a lie all this time since...
Thank you very much for your answers.
Now back to hunt a 4e edition character builder (or maybe try to convince my DM to switch for the 5e edition, who knows what the futur holds).

The current character builder on DDB is only for D&D fifth edition. Other editions or rulesets are not supported.
Thank you for such a fast answer.

As far as I can see, the ruleset you are talking about is definitely not D&D fifth edition.
I can direct you to the Basic Rules for fifth edition on the WotC website, or here on DDB.
