Howdy, I just made a Tiefling gunslinger who has guns made by the DM, when I put them into dnd beyond as magic items (because I can't put in normal items but that's another thread) I can't change the range on either of the guns. I was wondering if this is just some thing that I'm being dumb about and can't find, or if it just doesn't exist. Does anyone know?
Things like the amount of damage a weapon does and the range of a weapon cannot be modified through homebrew. There is an option available in the homebrew tools, but the option affects nothing as of now. Certain properties are sadly hardcoded into the base weapon itself.
I do however believe we're expecting the ability to homebrew true mundane equipment with the homebrew revamp (so shouldn't have to homebrew everything as a magical item) and with that I'd wager we'll see the ability to change the amount of damage an item deals, and other details like the range of it.
Something that is typically offered as a workaround and I meant to add to my original post but forgot is on your character sheet after adding the weapon to your equipment you can add the new range and damage amounts to the notes section of that specific weapon. It will add these notes under actions where notes are added for other weapons. You will however see the original range and the range you added via notes displayed.
