Ok, so I was looking a while back at Divinity 2 with it's new Campaign Maker feature, and I look at some games that have the DnD logo and don't play like tabletop, and I look at some other sites that do use tabletop but are quite complex and/or hard to do (I think roll 20 looks complex to me but that might just be me) and I think to myself "As someone who is just looking into DnD, would just like to make a campaign and have people play it, but has no savvy to do with either DnD or these programs, I think you guys here are missing out on a big opportunity to make a easy to use system that has the flexibility of DnD while looking good. And with a growing online presence in the world, maybe it's a good idea."
I don't know, maybe I missed a ton of things, or maybe I'm just a lazy (Insert insult of choice). And maybe this will be controversial. But I'm going to go full force and suggest a ton of things for a so called "Campaign Play" feature.
Easy to use interface/system for setting up stuff, making things look good, keeping track of stats ETC: Ok, assume for a moment I am nowhere near tech savvy and think a Twitch channel is a part of the body that makes people twitch. Ideally, you want it so someone like that can use it, while keeping the complexity of DnD the game is known for. I'm not sure how to go about this. But if it could be done, it opens up to a world of new people.
Actual game kinda stuff: Ok this could use a bit more explaining, and I'd guess this would be a massive time sink if it went as I picture it. I guess what I mean is if the DM (Or auto dm I will get on that in a sec) does a thing it tracks in the thing, like they make a guy attack, it does 2 damage to the char. To this end you can integrate characters or compendium, add a kinda level system that shows feats. If you want to go full hog, make a full game out of it, or rather make the pieces for a game EG level editor. it would not need to be like super realistic graphics like crysis or anything, you can probably get away with just enough to leave the best bits to the imagination, which has the added benefit of not needing as much power to run.
Auto DM: Ok, so you made a campaign, good for you. But you want to play it with your friends. You can set a auto dm to track outcomes you made. obviously this is no replacement for a on the fly DM, but it might come in handy with my next suggestion:
Set up owned campaign: You can pick from a selection of core campaigns or ones owned from sources. Perfect fit for a auto dm too.
Invite friends/people here/anyone really: Just a list of options to invite people to campaigns, from friends, to players here, to new guys or people you know.
If anyone has any other features they would like to see added to this idea, suggest them and I might add them into the first post (if I recall)
