I am looking to check out some encounters in advance of the party in my campaign handling them. Does anyone have an online D&D Battle Simulator that seems to give results that are useful? I know the dynamics of the problem are outrageous to account for in a program, but it is still possible to generate info that has use.
Thanks for your help.

Encounter Builders are helpful, but I need a better tool to measure encounters. E-Bs appear to run only off CR, and I find that too statistically unreliable.

The encounter builder uses XP budget to determine the difficulty, not CR. CR is a secondary guideline to determine if any single monster is appropriate for an encounter.
It uses the official rules found in the Dungeon Master's Guide.
Either way, they are notoriously poor indicators. But the problem is building a simulator isn't going to (likely to) be good, either. I just hope it is better that my experience with the other approach.
