To keep Play by Post simple and reliable, there needs to be an internal dice roller where players type in the full command, and there is a system generated roll.
It needs to have some sort of graphic or formatting to make it distinct and not-spoofable.
You could use Roll20.net, it is great for keeping track of rolls, keep notes and have the character sheets. But then you won't need this forum for anything other than finding groups/players I suppose.
You could use roll20 for PbP, although I personally wouldn't. I'd assume you'd keep gameplay to the roll20 campaign forums as it'd be easier to read than the chat log, but you'd need to refer to the chat log for dice rolls, making it a slight exercise in frustration. For the tabletop, I would assume the DM would remain in full control of all tokens so that players can't just arbitrarily move themselves outside of initiative order and the like. I really like roll20 and use it for all of my games, but I don't think it would work well as a PbP.

As simple as the title suggests...

oh yeah, I definitely use roll20 for campaigns.
i'm saying for play by post (not everyone on roll20 at the same time) it would be great to have a die roller internal to this forum.
Post by play is all about loving the game and being honest.... that being said I just rolled 5 Nat20 in a row. Lol
Don't piss me off. I'm close to leveling and you look like just enough EXP
Slightly off topic but how is Roll20 for play-by-post games? Is it really not meant for that at all or does it work fine?
