I know that this thread is very old, but in case anyone is curiouse here is my answer:
Both Bahamut and Tiamat have billions of dragon followers across the planes, so I feel it would balance out and they would both be destroyed (along with much of the multiverse).
still though, I'm a supporter of Bahamut. Why? I don't want to die
I know these two dragon gods are meant to be evenly matched, but by personal opinion who do you believe would win, and why? Be as specific or vague as possible, just provide an explanation.
Just like you said, they are meant to be equal. So no one truly wins.
Tiamat is both indecisive and unoriginal. Couldn't just be the, like, turquoise or salmon dragon or whatever like a normal gigantic divine embodiment of an entire alignment among a population of dragons, no, she had to be all the colors, or at least the ones the other chromatic dragons already had. Nerd.
I believe the closest we've gotten as to an asnwer with this was what happened with Paladine and Takhisis in Dragonlance at the conclusion of the war of souls.
Effectively, Tahkisis (queen of darkness, mother of evil dragons and prettymuch always depcicted as being Tiamat by another name) had managed a hell of a Coup; The dragon overlords (Great worms of such ridiculous power they could credibly threaten her) were pretty much all dead, the rest of the Pantheon was too decrepit to oppose her directly due to her having moved Krynn someplace else and thus prevented any of them from being able to commune with their followers...
Paladine (basically Bahamut) wound up weaponizing the balance against her by renouncing his godhood and becoming a mortal man which ~due to the nature of the cosmology of the dragonlance world~ caused his equal and opposite to become a comparable entity, in this case a mortal woman.
Not saying this is how every iteration of this fight goes down, but it's about the best answer as to who wins.

Well we only have the stats for Tiamat. So until her brother's stats are revealed it's all speculation.

They’re both in Fizban’s. Well, aspects of them are.

I love cats, coffee and Dnd. Check out my tavern: THE PLATINUM KINGFISHER
Don't be a monday. Nobody likes mondays.
Of all the Dnd settings, Dragonlance is my absolute favourite.

I think bahmut would win

Tiamat?
Neither. Because I'm rooting for Phoenix.
Who gave dragons extended life or immortality? Phoenix.
If they can give long life, they can just take it back as easily.
I read 2 Bahamut stat blocks and a Tiamat block.
As I plan a altered Tyranny of Dragons campaign, Bahamut stats seem better with one saying Cr 40 specifically.
I think that Bahamut would obliterate Tiamat! Bahamut is a literal GOD Tiamat is just a CR 30 hydra. I think it's pretty obvious who would win.
It'd certainly be close. However, when it comes down to it...
The Pink Dragon would win! Or the Time Dragon!

Tiamat is also a god. The monster manual stats are for an aspect of her.
Tiamat
She got extra heads for days
