Well over the last few months I've been inundated with requests for my work-around for tracking spell points. And as it has been noted to me that sharing/publishing a feat that does implement it (kind of) is against the rules, and even if a feat of this kind was published you could only be able to add it to your homebrew collection if you are subscribed... At any rate, I don't see anything wrong with sharing HOW to make the feat yourself.
These are instructions I've used to make a Feat that levels-up with the character in order to track spell point usage.
STEPS 1. Create a homebrew feat without prerequisites named SPELL POINTS [I also copied the text from the DMG listing for spell points, including the tables into the feat description for easy reference] DMG - Variant Spell Points
2. Add an action (any type will do - action, bonus action, special) to the feat with a RESET TYPE of LONG REST
3. Add a LIMITTED USE for each level [this is the time consuming part] with NUMBER OF USES equal to the spell points you have at that level i.e. 1st-level = 4 uses; 2nd-level = 6 uses; etc... For full casters (druid/wizards/clerics/bards/sorcerers) you have to make one for level 1-20 but for half casters (ranger/paladin) or 1/3 casters(arcane tricksters/eldritch knight) you only have to make limited use increments for the levels where you get more spell points. You would have to make one feat for each caster type (full, 1/2 or 1/3).
4. Add the Feat to your character, by going onto your character sheet, and under Features and Traits tab choose FEATS and MANAGE FEATS. The description pane on the side of the window will show a list of all your available feats (depending on the content you have access to) including homebrewed feats (make sure that homebrew content is selected for your character in the builder). Add the feat to your character and boom done!
You can access the counter though the action listing on your sheet, and the counter should work.
Sorcery Points & Spell Points The Spell points system does not integrate well with sorcerery points. It causes a lot of balance issues as a sorcerer using spell points and sorcerery points can cast an abhorrent amount of spells in a day. This is not to say "don't do it" just pointing out that other players/DMs might not approve of its use.
Why Not Warlocks? The use of spell points doesn't really work well for the theme of Warlocks. But for all intents and purposes, you can crate a spell point feat for pact magic as well. Just have it reset on a short rest and only have enough points for the appropriate amount of castings and spell slot levels.
You're the one that wrote it? I love that script, thank you very much. Our house rule is spells known spell casters (sorcerer, bards, rangers) can use it to give them a more unique flavor. It has been really fun. I've spammed the link to it on a couple other threads recommending that people use it instead of the feat method. I'm honestly surprised the team here has not approached you to ask about using your code and building it into the system. You did the hard work for them.

Thank you so much, this really helps!
i would love is they added an official spell point system iv been using it in one game and it makes your spells feel better like you have more control
I wrote a userscript a few years back that creates an interface for and automates spell point tracking on DnDBeyond. Should still be working.
