Check out the Orrery of the Wanderer in Acquisitions Inc. That adventure is a little wacky but I’m fascinated with that artifact, to the point where I’m starting to build a campaign around it.
I'm surprised nobody has mentioned it yet, but earlier editions had an artifact called the Rod of Seven Parts - each part did something, and as adjacent parts were attached together it developed more powers.

It's mostly because the Rod isn't in 5e yet.

Trying to get your physical content on Beyond is like going to Microsoft and saying "I have a physical Playstation disk, give me a digital Xbox version!"
Looking to create a multi part home brew item, which maybe a template for me for future items.
I did three of these for my campaign. A staff for the wizard, bracers for the rogue and a rapier for the blood hunter. Each had some abilities by themselves, but each also had 3 inserts that needed to be filled and spells cast to add additional abilities. For example, the staff gave the bearer immunity to 0 level illusions. When the bearer added in the first items and had the proper spells cast, it acted as a ring of spell storing, but for only 3 levels of spell, not 5. The next two completed items will add the remining two spell levels in.
Doing this has added a lot of fun to the game. The items were started by one of the PCs father who sold everything he owned to have them made, but while this was happening, he was killed. The makers (elves) stopped working on them due to the lack of continued payment and sent the unfinished items back to the father's factor, with the instructions on what needed to be done to complete them. The items were stolen and the instructions lost. The party managed to recover the items. At 5th level they went to Candlekeep to see if the monks there could help. The lead to an adventure to get admission to the library, which lead to them getting the instructions for the next set of items to be added (in this case, gems and wood) and the spells needed. They then had to buy the gems/wood and find someone to cast the spells. I followed the rules in the DMG for creating magical items for the time and cost, but did my own research on mystical properties of gems and wood to decide what the inserts were. This is a great way to tailor an item to your party's interests/religion, etc and add in side quests and RPing.
Here is an example: Staff of elven make, made of ash and oak, seemingly intertwined, shod with adamantine. The staff adjusts to the bearer's height. The top of the staff has three branches that swirl out and together, as if they were meant to hold a small object. The rest of the staff is smooth except for the handgrip, made of wyvern leather. There are inserts for three items on the staff, in the order shown top to bottom:
A rainbow sphere. Symbol of Kirith Sotheril.
A full moon under a moonbow. Symbol of Sehanine Moonbow.
8 pointed star. Symbol of Corellon Larethian.
Abilities:
The staff provides +1 to wearer’s AC.
The bearer of Har’Ehalaer has advantage on saves vs. 0 and 1 level illusions.
Abilities to be completed by addition of the right inserts:
Rainbow Sphere: (follows the rules for crafting common magical items in the DMG)
Acts as a ring of spell storing (DMG pg 192) but stores only 3 levels of spells.
Components:
Aurora quartz, cut to the shape of a rainbow sphere worth at least 150 GP.
Spellcasting: Magic Weapon
Cost: 100 GP
Time: 4 days
I called this staff Har’Ehalaer (elven for Staff of Knowledge, per lingojam and some tweaking on my part). It was a lot of fun researching the materials as well as the spells needed to achieve the right effect.
The rapier was Caths'Ella (cat's strike) based on the PC being a bloodhunter (order of the lycan) who's hybrifd form is were-tigerish. The bracers are Ssri’Nkym (silent dagger) for a rogue assassin.
I should have access to the Orrery components via being part of a campaign where the owner has Inquisition Inc. (Orrery of the Traveler), but for some unknown reason, I don't. Any ideas why?
Does anyone have Master Tier subscription? Have they activated it for the campaign?
If not, they need to for people to share content with you.

Hoi all,
Are there any items, homebrew or otherwise, that are multiple parts?
By this I mean that each part is its own magic item and then can be assembled into a great magic item?
Thanks.
Just from official sources, there's the Eye and Hand of Vecna and Baba Yaga's Mortar and Pestle, which each are two separate items that give additional benefits if you attune to both of the set.

For another official item: the Hammer of Thunderbolts requires the wielder also be wearing & attuned to a Belt of Giant Strength and Gauntlets of Ogre Power in order to use its "Giant's Bane" feature.
Thanks for the info everyone.

Excellent information
Here's what I have created that could have a whole quest story created around it.
The High Crown of Bhaerynden
Thanks for sharing! If I have one of the stones and it is not yet fitted to the crown, do I still get the benefits?
Why yes you do.
Here's a list of the jewels:
Ancient Bhaerynden Diamond; Ancient Bhaerynden Emerald; Ancient Bhaerynden Onyx; Ancient Bhaerynden Ruby; Ancient Bhaerynden Sapphire; Ancient Bhaerynden Topaz.
Funny thing is someone just told me that this reminds them of the Infinity Stones and the Infinity Gauntlet.
Which was totally not my intent when I started this.
