As an added comment, if you"re really concerned about privacy on DDB then you should set your character sheet to private. I think there is a button click during PC creation so it is rather obvious.

There is no good reason to hide a sheet from the DM - the DM needs to access the sheet to know how to plan encounters, how to award loot, etc. and there really is no legitimate reason to hide one’s sheet from the DM. Frankly, if a player feels the DM will use meta knowledge from their character sheet against that player, that’s a toxic environment and the player should find a better DM.
Between players, there really is no good reason for player A to look at player B without player B’s permission. If player A has a concern about player B’s sheet, they should go the the DM who can look into the issue. If player A wants metagame information or to know player B’s abilities, they can just ask player B/player B’s character. Any worthwhile or necessary information one could get from the character sheet can be obtained by just asking B or the DM, without potentially spoiling things B would rather keep secret (such as backstory information, abilities they want to keep secfet for flavour, something they find fun that they want to share with other players in a session, quirks and flaws, etc.).

Backstory information, quirks and flaws, etc. aren’t in the character sheet

You are incorrect. There is a description tab on the character sheet as well as a notes tab where players might jot down this information.

Hmm, I was not aware of that.
All the same, I did tell them that if it had been narrative information, that I wouldn’t have looked at it as I do consider such information private.
