I was just curious, since I've been lucky enough to have survived my few games of Dnd here using Beyond... what happens to your character should they die? Does the character become automatically unusable at that point? Could I still join another adventure/game using that character at some point, or is there a digital version of "ripping your character sheet." :) thx.
What happen with dead characters depends on the DM. It might be raised from the dead or remain so.
As to use it again in another campaign, again, the it's up to the DM as the dead character backstory might not fit the new campaign, or some of the character element (race, class, background, feat, item etc) might not be allowed content .
Character Sheets are simply a way of tracking game data, and "Death" is one of many conditions that is tracked. There is no out of game consequence for dying, and resurrection is common. The difference between a "dead" character and an "alive" on is just a toggle being flipped.
A character sheet can be moved, edited, and duplicated as desired.
If you fail three death saving throws and record them on your sheet, the hit points section of your character sheet changes to show the failures and the character name automatically has "(Dead)" in front of it. You can restore that by clicking on the death saves. Nothing permanent happens, it's just a little traumatic to see.
It's better than it used to be. When I lost my cleric, DDB said "Nenne Amharat is DEAD!" I'll never forget the shock that coursed through my body, haha.

A Moment of silence for Nenne Amharat the great adventurer! ;)
(And thanks everyone for the comments)!
