I got my Deluxe Box on Monday, and it probably would have been there Sunday if my local post office wasn’t insanely short staffed. At this point it’s less of a delivery issue for me and more of a communication issue. Specifically the lack of it. I did. It actually receive an email from Wizards until the day it was scheduled for delivery (Sunday). Any communication at all before that would probably have nipped this whole post right there. I probably won’t preorder again, but I’m not as disgusted as I was, I’m just amazed at the complete lack of communication to paying customers.
My bundle came yesterday afternoon. I got an email regarding shipping the day after release. I got to read the whole book two weeks early. All in all I am pleased with how it worked out.
I did not check my email until just now, but I got my shipping email 2 days ago, and according to UPS, it should be at my house on December 17. Personally, I am fine with how they handled things. It is the holiday season and there are three illnesses spreading around (hell, I am in bed right now because of the flu), so the supply chain is already slower than usual. I am fine with Wizards giving most of their customer facing positions the holidays off too, since customer service takes a real toll on you mentally with how many rude customers out there.
As mentioned already, I cannot get digital-physical-boardgame bundle from a physical shop. If I buy them separately, I could get it cheaper, but it is kind of a hassle. Digital costs $17.99 on Beyond with Legendary discount and another 25% sales discount. Physical book costs $36.48 on Amazon. Board game costs $63.99 on Miniature Market (sold out, so I cannot even get it). That totals to $118.46, and the deluxe bundle costs $154.98, so I would be saving about $36.52. However, this does not include any extras, I need to wait for Beyond to have a sale, and I will need to wait at least a few more months to get the board game next year.
If we include the extras, I could still get it cheaper. Digital costs $17.99 on Beyond. Physical book with alt cover costs $42.00 on Amazon (I think the actual book is an exclusive cover rather than alt cover, but alt cover is the closest thing I can equate it to). Board game costs $63.99 on Miniature Market. GM screen costs $13.99 on Miniature Market (Dragonlance screen is not out yet, so I am basing the price on other screens). That totals to $137.97, so I would be saving about $17.01. Again, technically cheaper, but lots of hassle and I do not get the actual exclusive cover.
You should be ordering from your locally owned shop
I didn't know that was an option?
The physical/digital bundle was only available through WOTC.
My local shop owner had his orders of Dragonlance in the store a few days before release date. He posted on his FB page that they were in on release day. I went down after work and picked mine up off the shelf.
I got my order today. Nice ding on the bottom of my book because packing was ridiculously subpar. I filled out the Dragonlance survey and of course, I was brutally honest.

That is a fine example of WOTC wizzing down the leg of the shops that allowed them to get where they are. That part irks me to know end
Despite the accusations that Wizards is “wizzing down the leg” of local game stores, it has been a great year for LGSes. 60% of WPN (Wizards Play Network - the network of supports local stores Wizards established) LGSes reported growth in 2022, which is fairly impressive given economic constrictions due to inflation and other factors. Another 20% on top of that reported they stayed static, managing to keep their business at the same place despite economic construction.
So, while the argument that Wizards is making things worse for game stores is certainly popular, the numbers do not really seem to support that proposition.

My deluxe box was dinged, but thankfully the book was ok and so was the Warriors of Krynn box. The packing was stupid sub par
This whole pre-ordering the Dragonlance bundle, was a TERRIBLE consumer choice on my end. I've had better customer service at flea markets.
I'm not going to touch more on the fact that I just now got my book I PRE-ORDERED, a week and a half after the release date. I wont touch more on the fact that I could have purchased it elsewhere for the same price and had it in my hands MUCH sooner. And lastly I wont touch on the fact that they said they wont look further into it until It's been 30 DAYS. Which itself is insane.
However the silence from WOTC regarding any of this is deafening.
First - I had to search for awhile to find anyway to contact them. If you cant contact them, they dont have to deal with any problem solving.
Second - When I did write them, I just got a form letter. Telling me that its still within the expected shipping time guideline (tp note - they were not clear AT ALL ABOUT when ordering), and theres nothing they can do for 30 days.
Third - When I wrote back, with some follow up questions - I just got the exact same form letter. That's it.
Fourth - I opened a separate ticket, with my same follow up questions trying to get some answers - this time I got a different form letter saying - We're busy we'll get to this eventually.
Fifth - I KNOW I'm not the only experiencing any of this. This whole roll out has been a dumpster fire.
And lastly - theres been no statement, apology, email, forum posts, or ANYTHING for any of this. They're hoping we get our items EVENTUALLY, and we forget about all of this. They assume and probably correctly that most people will come back, because "Hey! It's D&D!" . Honestly I probably would have some years ago as well, but this whole thing has made me REALLY look at my relationship with D&D and by extension WOTC. I won't pre-order anymore, and I'm not sure if I will purchase their products again after this hands off approach to helping customers with real legitimate concerns. I've been learning the Alien RPG, and Dungeon Crawl Classics, (which are both a ton of fun) and I think my RPG fun will be spent elsewhere.
Sorry for my "Poor customer service rant" but they refuse to listen to me (and probably many others) and wanted to be heard.
I still haven't gotten my preorder. They're not going to do anything about it unless someone lawyers up or reports them to the BBB.
*whispers* don't preorderrrrrrrr

Shame on everyone who ordered direct from WOTC.
You should be ordering from your locally owned shop
Yup, I agree.
I'm still waiting for my order.
I didn't know that was an option?

or...you know dont shame people for buying direct as they might not have a local shop that sells it?

Pre-ordered; still no delivery and still no shipping notice..

Looks like they moved my separate forum post here for some reason. Which is posted above.
