To customize your digital dice you throw when using the DnDBeyond character sheet?
I tend to still use my physical dice, but I have my character sheets up on my laptop and occasionally us the digital dice if I need a access to an addition set...
I'm curious how you play in a VTT without some kind of digital dice? You wouldn't need them if you're only using dndb for keeping your character sheet at an in-person table, sure, but if you click on something to make a roll, then you need some indicator of the rng in action. You could turn off animations, but you still need a representation of which dice you invoked the rng generator for.
And I like picking different visual indicators to match each of my characters, same way I have different portrait frames and backgrounds for each character.

Also some of the digital dice have fun effects. So while you're playing (potentially remotely) you can see your Natural 1 turn into a Mimic on the Mimic Dice set. Or have a cool wintery effect as the dice face. Or the sound of healing potions tumbling around with the Healing dice. All that fun stuff.
If you don't want it - then disable it. And you will never see it. Just the dice result.
For myself, digital dice make playing remote for three of my games (I DM for) more bearable. I can see a dice rolling. Rather than it being mathematically rolled invisibly and just producing a result. You can see the dice tumbling across your screen presenting the same tension as rolling dice in person - is going to be a Natural 1? A Natural 20? Am I going to meet that DC 15 or be petrified? It makes it feel like it's the same feeling as playing in person with "real" dice.
But I get some people don't care for that. They want the instant results. So that option is there to simply Disable Digital Dice.
Because if I've just spent $950 dollars getting all the books digitally so I don't have to cart around three books to my sessions, I'm going to be slightly put out when I realise that I still have to cart around 40d6 in order to cast Meteor Swarm.
If you're not willing or able to to discuss in good faith, then don't be surprised if I don't respond, there are better things in life for me to do than humour you. This signature is that response.
They do Bluetooth dice so you can roll physically and have the results upload automatically.
I'm not sure what to think of that.

I'm actually quite fond of my Elder Heart dice set. They make lovely chiming sounds when they roll, and I always smile when I see the Full Bloom nat 20 effect (and not just because I rolled a 20). At the new, sane price points, digital dice are perfectly fine as a sidecar revenue generator. They can be more creative with digital dice than they can with physical; the Dice of True Color in particular are gorgeous and also completely impossible to do physically. If they ever figure out setting dice on a per-character rather than a per-account basis I'll probably buy more sets, but I've also got plenty of freebies from subscriber perks, giveaways, and the occasional preorder set for when I feel like a change of pace from Elder Heart.
If people are willing to sink five bucks into an MTX skin for their terrible mobile gacha game waifu/hasbando, why wouldn't they be willing to sink five bucks into an upgrade for their digital dice?
Also, Kaboom nailed it. The dice goblins see no difference between digital math rocks and physical math rocks; the physical ones are the weightiest, but the digital ones are the shiniest.

this reminded me : I need to go get more shiny math rocks now that I have more disposable income...
I think that part of it is to better capture the joy of rolling physical dice when actually doing so would be impractical. Plus they can be pretty cool.
I love using the digital dice on another vtt when I have to roll a bunch of them. On that vtt the dice are shadowed when the GM rolls them so there's this big wave of shadows across the screen as the bad news comes in.
Anyway, tldr: emotional connection and convenience.

Physical dice, maybe?
This would not work with any of the remote games I'm in. Only a few of us even have cameras, some people are just on voice, and if you were using the video in say roll20, that's a tiny square; it would be really hard to set up your camera in a way that showed the dice rolls so the DM could see the numbers legibly, and also that everyone could still see each other. Also sometimes people are on their phones and not at a desk and everything else they need is on the phone so why would they carry forty dice or so with them wherever they're at?

As I said before, my group is solely compromised of irl friends, so the DM never needs to see the dice rolled. Though obviously if you're playing with strangers, you definitely need a reliable dice roller that everyone can see.
Why would someone carry 40+ dice with them? Shiny math rocks. Clickety clack.

What is the point of your phone camera making the shutter click sound?
In Japan, it's to discourage upskirt photos in public spaces and can not be disabled.
But yeah, nostalgia sells.
Afaik (as in "I've heard it few years ago and am too lazy to google it now"), it's a legal requirement in some countries for the camera to be audible

Weird. It's innovative, sure, but kind of unnecessary.
I only play with my friend group, where we all trust that nobody will fudge their rolls. So I usually use physical dice when playing remotely.

When in doubt, its a mobility feat. You don't have to additionally carry your bag o' dice everywhere. Sound and animation add to the nostalgia.
