For me this will be a exciting walk through memory lane. I've DM'd all of these adventures and most of them multiple times. I think they are some of the best.
There are some chances for epic stories that some of us remember, but to bring these back from the storage box and see them re-done will be a treat. I've watch a few interviews and it seems they are staying as close the original content as possible and updating the stats and art. It's exciting.
The tomb of horrors will end more than a few adventuring careers.
For myself I have a different issues for these. So a question to all those that both play and DM.
I hadn’t played in a good couple of decades. Love being the DM but I had a chance to join a Roll20 group a short time ago and started being the player once a week. I have to admit it’s been fun.
Now the problem is the DM who is awesome by the way has decided to pick up the Yawning Portal adventures and start running us through these. I’ve been DMing for almost 40 years and I’ve actually run all of these awesome adventures more than a few times each.
Being the good guy I mentioned to the DM that I have more than extensive knowledge about the adventures. I also said that I would just play the character as just the character so I wouldn’t spoil anything for anyone else.
Has anyone else had a similar problem and how did you handle it?

Currently I'm running Scourge of the Sword Coast for a new group with Fantasy Grounds and I'm planning to continue with Dead in Thay. I can't wait to run it with Fantasy Grounds!

He who fights with monsters should look to it that he himself does not become a monster. And if you gaze long into an abyss, the abyss also gazes into you.
We never ran prewritten adventures back in AD&D days, but I've got fond memories of Sunless Citadel. Even if all my players can remember is the cutesy voice of Meepo...
After reading it... it struck me more as a labor of love / someone's pet project, rather than something that was a priority to bring to the 5E paradigm.

I was planning on doing Dead in Thay this May (I apologize for the rhyming) and then I saw it was going to be in the yawning portal...I had to let my players know that I was going to do it before it was cool.
I'm looking over my copy now and thinking about how one could run JUST the book, (i.e. "You're a group of dungeon delvers, and you go to the Sunless Citadel...." kinda thing).
Looks like the level suggestions would actually work out for a start to finish "campaign".
You'd end at the Tomb of Horrors, which is interesting, because isn't that supposed to be before Whiteplumb Mountian?
Or, you ignore that aspect, and make the ToH the pinnacle of the campaign....
So far I've been impressed with this product. For persons like myself who have run each of these adventures a few times each I'm looking forward to introducing the last groups to the realms of these stories. It will be the next plan once they complete their current story.
I do have my family group which I will start they off with the Hidden shine adventure. They have a tower they acquired and in the basement is a strange portal they have been trying to figure out. I'm going to use this to get them to the various adventures. Since it's a magic portal, I can make it go really anywhere. Being a DM is fun sometimes.
So beginning next week they will be able to open this crazy insane portal and step through and BOOM! Guess they fell into the wrong hole. The portal can stay open till they are finished and can return to prepare for their next adventure. It works for them and me.

Hey all,
With the launch of Tales of the Yawning Portal today (for local game stores) I thought it'd be fun to have a megadiscussion thread! :D
What adventures are you looking forward to?
What do you hope the book will have?
How badly do you want PCs to suffer in the Tomb of Horrors?!

havent run those campaigns in over 15 years. My old group would love another run at them. Don't know how many characters i lost there.
