I GM a lot (well, 3) of pbp games. I don't generally have lots of time to design my posts - I write really quickly, but I don't generally have the time to design maps, move tokens around, and so on. So if I'm to use maps for my games, I need a quick, dirty solution that works. No bells, no whistles, just something that's fast and simple.
Any advice?

Blanket disclaimer: I only ever state opinion. But I can sound terribly dogmatic - so if you feel I'm trying to tell you what to think, I'm really not, I swear. I'm telling you what I think, that's all.
Pen, paper, snap a pic then host and post maybe google drive or possibly google jam if you can keep the session running long enough for everyone to view and post before changing?

That's quick, but in the long run maybe more work - I'd need to draw a new map each time a character moved.
I played in a game once where the GM made maps in google docs. That worked, but he was better at it than I am - also, not every encounter can be mapped that way (at least not if I'm doing the mapping). Like, right now I'm running a fight on a cave wall, players hanging by ropes, attacked by little gecko guys who can walk on the walls.
I mean, it's still 2d, so maybe just have up and down directions? Hm.
That's a google docs spreadsheet, to my knowledge free of any risk. Will I get bonked by admins for posting links? Hopefully not.
It's a very crappy map, but I guess it serves to show the locations of characters, and potential locations for the invisible enemies.

I would recommend Wonderdraft (for campaign maps) and Dungeondraft (for ... dungeons). They are not exactly "quick and dirty" solutions, but they do the trick for me and with some practice(not much tbh) you can create a scenario map in under 15 minutes.
Well - nice map. But where do you get the tokens for it? =)

Google Drawings is what I use.
Map is the bottom layer. Add tokens as images and you can easily move them around. Easily add lines or circles to show areas of effect for spells.
Share and copy to the web and you get a link to drop into the add image to post in the forums.
Here is an example I have running now.

Google image searches or the pictures on dndbeyond. Then I use this tool to quickly create tokens.

Neat. Well done =)
