The only way to use your bonus action to attack with the second weapon is to just attack again. The modifier is automatically added even though it's a bonus action that shouldn't add it. I tried adding a custom action but that still adds the modifier for some reason.
If your referring to your character sheet on whatever weapon is in your characters off hand if you go to edit it you will see where you can rename it and such, but a check in the box to duel weld it will be then placed in your bonus actions of your charactersheet and will not include the bonus damage from attributes unless you have the 2 weapon fighting style
I usually add a custom improvised thrown attack to new characters (for oil, holy water, etc) -- wish this was just there automatically like unarmed strike
and for dual wielders I'll add an "off-hand" entry for secondary weapons.
