New to DDB started a campaign last night (intro to Stormwreck Isle). I created some encounters and I assumed they would be launched in the platform using the alpha version launch maps but no. Was I supposed to run the encounters outside of the launch maps? Is it better if I just create my own campaign or will I run into the same problems above with encounters not being visible to the players screen when using launch maps? Also how does the fog of war work in launch maps? Because if the FoW is lifted players can do dumb things like add creatures draw dumb stuff. I would imagine if the FoW is on the players cannot see the map but once they move they could? But when the FoW is active the players screen is black so I am confused as to what the FoW is intended for.
Encounters and Maps are currently not integrated with each other, apart from the rolls you make in Encounters going to the log in Maps. If you want to mirror the encounters on the maps for tactical fighting you need to add the tokens to the map yourself.
Fog of War is meant to allow you to gradually reveal a map over time. So for example if you start in one room of the dungeon, then as they explore more of the dungeon, you reveal more of the map to them by erasing part of it. Normally you don't just enable or disable it all at once, but you start with everything covered and then erase it bit by bit. The players being able to draw on the map and move their tokens around is intended, if your players are using those features in an unintended way then that's for you to figure out with them how to deal with that.
So I added the tokens to the map itself and made sure they were the same but the tokens are just tokens no real way to do their rolls/initiative etc...they just exist. I had to put it on paper. I liked the digital functionality of the maps. Side note, how do I get more maps to add in the app not on paper?
I will have to play around with the FoW to see how it works when it is not lifted. Thanks for the response.

You can use the "Encounters" tool on this same website to manage the encounters digitally. You just need it to be in another tab. Hopefully they will eventually integrate these tools fully.
When using the alpha version of DDB's launch maps, encounters you create might not automatically integrate into the maps. You may need to manually place creatures and manage the encounter details during gameplay. If you prefer a more seamless experience, creating your own campaign and using third-party tools like Roll20 or Foundry VTT might offer better integration for encounters and maps.
