I have been DMing a homebrew campaign that has hit its midway point (running now for a year). We were all new (and honestly still feel like we are very new), but we have definitely fell in love with the whole gist of DnD.
We are all childhood friends (me + 6 other members) and we have all shared the same interests in life, which music is one of them. One of the biggest challenges I have faced (other than homebrewing a whole campaign…) was definitely to find the right music/song for each of the occasions.
So, I ventured through the web for ways to make something that would fit the campaign and with the help of AI, we did some music for the campaign – now I know that AI is not everyone’s cup of tea, but for someone low budget as us (I am sure some of you can relate) that was the best thing we could do! Also, while we share a deep love for music, none of us was ever gifted with a talent for making music.
As the DM, I got into writing lyrics for every single character (that had some relevance in the wider story) and getting songs out – and let me tell you that changed the game for us. While everyone was engaged with the story already, this put a whole different meaning to the story. Making each of us engage more with the campaign.
We have all decided to put the songs into some streaming platforms (spotify and so on) for two reasons. For one, it was probably the easiest way we had to share the music between us and two, if it ever funds us anything, we are putting all into funding real artists to help us make actual stuff for our campaign (our idea is some sort of animation).
If you are ever interested in listening to some of the music – you can check it out, the artist is called DM Bony (whatever streaming services of your choice).
I purposely didn’t say anything about what the campaign was, hoping that you can figure it out through the songs! Do note that it is homebrew with a lot of ideas borrowed from actual DnD.
If you have also any questions on the campaign I would 100% love to answer them!
