It is also worth noting the no ETA came from someone who reached out to wotc about needing the info for a project, and the everything is on track came from a DDB employee.
DDB employees and reps have had to roll back their statements in the past due to giving us the information they had or got from places they had access too internally yet it wasn't correct. It could easily be yet another case of this hand doesn't know what that hand is doing.
I want to be clear I am not saying nor do I believe anyone is lying, just that history has taught us wotc is fragmented and internal coms aren't much better than public comms.
Every DDB employee is a wotc employee, but not every wotc employee is a DDB employee.

If you ask a rep for an ETA, and the company hasn't publicly released an ETA, you will get some variant on "I don't have one", "no comment", or "see previous statements". We have now gotten two of those.

This statement confuses me as a human cuz I thought all DDB employees were Wizards employees post-acquisition.
But I will correct you on one thing: I am a WOTC employee. I didn't get here via acquisition :)
(I think that's also why my markers are purple/lavender, when previously DDB employee names were red.)
weeks means jsut that. weeks, it doesnt become months until at least 8 weeks have passed.
The amount of times I've seen this in relation to "when is weeks still considered weeks" is funny to me, mostly because it's an unspoken rule that I also adhere to. It's like when a baby's age stops being referred to in months.
I fully sympathize with much of the sentiment expressed here, but I'm not sure how it would have been taken if all that had been said was "yup, we're still doing it," "yup, we're still on track", "yup, that's still the plan", because that's all that could have been said. It's what I've said to many people who've asked me about it over the last couple of weeks.
That being said, though, we are still on track to release within 'weeks' of the MM release. There is much work being done to make sure SRD 5.2 is just right for the community, and you will get to see it soon.
Thanks for the update! Glad to hear work is proceeding as planned.
and they're locking other forum threads because this thread exists to keep things quiet,
I'm not sure that consolidating discussing into a single thread to maximise activity in one place, pute everyone interested in the matter in touch with each other, and keep the discussion high up the forum is as effective a silencing tactic as you might think?
As a general rule consolidating discussions into a single location is better for that discussion, than having it dispersed in multiple places

What's the best place to look while anticipating the SRD release? Just the blog?

It'll almost certainly be on the front page, but if not there the Community Update.

No Community Update for nearly a year. Pardon Our Dust became "it's just dusty"
I think the takeaway from this thread is that WotC/Hasbro doesn't really have an effective communications plan in reference to two major stakeholder groups: Dedicated Players (those who keep up with all of the latest rules and errata to ensure their game is as up to date as possible), and 3PP Creators.
Wizards is really, really good at the "Influencer Game", which brings a lot of players into the fold. Cooperation and and association with the major influencers in the hobby (Critical Role, Dimension 20, Stranger Things, Steven Colbert, Matthew Lillard, Joe Manganiello, etc.) has brought the game, and hobby in general, into the mainstream. People are talking about D&D in positive ways, and the hobby is in some ways even glamorized.
Wizards is really, really bad at MAINTAINING those relationships with Gamers. It seems like they go out of their way to make poor decisions, and then fumble, stumble, and bumble their way through communicating with their own market. I feel sorry for people like LaTiaJacquise who have to be the public facing personality for such an operation. They have to put the best spin on corporate nonsense they can, and sometimes end up looking like the RPG community version of "Baghdad Bob" - "There are no delays here, nothing to see at all, the SRD update is going swimmingly, and there are no no American tanks in Baghdad."
I, as a 3PP Creator myself, would be MORE THAN HAPPY to assist Wizards with their outreach to that part of the Community... For a very modest fee, of course.
Even a list of what will be in the SRD 5.2 would be helpful. I.e. a list of classes, species, magic items and monsters. If we knew that we could make adventures utilizing those creatures or variations there-of. Without knowing, we are treading water because me may waste weeks of work because a creature we thought would be in the SRD is not and the encounter (and all down stream consequences) be rewritten.
I'm not a professional, but do like to pass out my adventures I run at conventions. It has put some unnecessary strain on my life, and will continue to do so until it is released and I can write with a clear conscious.
I have a book ready to go and I used what was in the "Free Rules" as a guideline. Of course this is not perfect and I may have to make adjustments after the SRD 5.2 has been released.
Is it possible any delay is intentional? That they want to put off releasing the SRD to Creative Commons because it will mean game products made by other parties that are near completion or complete will have to weather a wait? That they want others to have to wait as the longer a competitor waits that competitor is not seeing sales they might otherwise be seeing?
I wouldn't be surprised if we do not see the SRD until Wizards have at least released the Heroes of the Borderlands starter set.
It could drop next week for all we know though.
But Wizards' 'prolificacy' when it comes to new stuff is drastically slower and fewer than was TSR's in the '90s. Some third-party publishers put out things almost constantly. In the form of zines or downloadable adventures or downloadable supplements and sourcebooks. And from what we saw in early 2023 Wizards don't quite like the idea of others' making money if they are making use of the rules of the game. Any resentment in that regard probably didn't just wash away when they backed down after having to be reminded we don't need them to play D&D.
It's possible but stupid, because they want to encourage uptake of the new rules, and 3PP using the new rules will help with that. That said, Hasbro has done stupider things.

I think you should reread my post you are saying exactly what I stated, and also proving my point in a small way.
I wrote:
All DDB employees are wotc employees
But
Not all wotc employees are DDB employees.
How do you get me claiming you are not a wotc employee or a not human from that?
There is nothing to correct as the statements are true.

D&D StaffI was referring to the part where you said "the 'everything is on track' came from a DDB employee".
The rest of it, I seem to have read and interpreted in reverse. My bad! This is why I shouldn't forum at night.

Really, no one should forum at night if they've been active all day.
Naps are key for long days.
Thanks for the update! Glad to hear work is proceeding as planned.
Honestly, my thread got closed out after someone linked here and I don't feel silenced.

Determining that is probably a large part of the delay.
