He's provided each of us with unique magic items tied to our characters background and abilities.
Im looking to heavily modify an existing magic item so I dont have to start from scratch. Does anyone know of a magical item that has several different charges that expend based on what you use? Not looking for a healing staff where there is one pool of charges, but an item with different charge pools for three or so different abilities?
And FYI, for questions like this, you'll most likely get better help and more answers if you post in the Homebrew & House Rules Forum :)
Cheers!

Breathe, dragons; sing of the First World, forged out of chaos and painted with beauty. Sing of Bahamut, the Platinum, molding the shape of the mountains and rivers; Sing too of Chromatic Tiamat, painting all over the infinite canvas. Partnered, they woke in the darkness; partnered, they labored in acts of creation.

Thank you in advance!
Unfortunately the homebrew system does not have a way to implement multiple charge pools on an item. The homebrew system can, in most cases, only do stuff that exists in official materials, and all the official magic items that have charges use a single charge pool.
You could make items with different charge pools that ONLY work as a set. Sword, Shield and Armor of Whomever. One piece is attuned, the others just have a note in the description that they only work WITH the third item worn and attuned.
The 3 Rings of Wonder, whatever. DDB doesn't mind if you equip multiple similar items.

Greetings Shadaux,
You could use a Staff of the Woodlands as a starting point, or something similar.
