A human that is obsessed with fire spells. The only thing is that he doesn't cast spells and instead uses lots of oil and a lighter. He tries to convince his party that his dad was a dragon and the he can spit fire, when it just him doing fire tricks with alcohol/oil.
My next character is going to be the fantasy equivalent of a comic book vigilante. Either a Gloom Stalker Ranger or a Vengeance Paladin using the new unarmed fighting style. I’ll probably use the Noble background too for a proper Bruce Wayne/Oliver Queen secret identity.
My current character is a Changeling Shadow Sorcerer, and the backstory with all of these mysterious, confusing powers manifesting themselves at a young age is really interesting to me.
So my DM was being chill, and let me play a Myconid Druid. Now, Myconids don't have mouths to spell cast, so i had to design a new system. Each spell had a clapped out morse sequence. Oh, did i mention he was 2 feet tall? Also he developed his spores to also get people high and worked with elderly as a natural medical drug.
I have not had the chance to play this, but for a one-shot, I'd LOVE to play a bard who's weak on CHA.
His charisma isn't great, but his CON? OUTSTANDING. This guy started out playing music in a low-end tavern, getting hit by thrown bottles, and now he might not be the best bard by a longshot, but he can take a punch, he can do this all day. He has a sense of showmanship but his songs are bad, he can't read... but if you tell him you're going to go and fight a dragon he's game.
I'm just about to play a rock gnome sorcerer in a low magic setting where after getting frustrated by a lack of creativity he tried to forcefully collect magical energy. The device exploded and he's now full of dangerously unstable magic that he needs to find a way to seal.
Probably should've posted this here instead of the wizard forums, but here's my recent one.
The idea is having a character that is reliving (or at least believes he is) a life that he's already done before. He vividly remembers waking up in a tomb multiple times, but his memories of what happened after are fragmented, and he can't recall anything that happened before it. He has headaches that accompany his divination skills, and Portant would be themed as a sudden deja vu, where he can "remember" what happened before, so he can cheat the system. I was thinking about taking Lucky as a variant human just to make it a little cheesy, but I really like the idea so far. I also don't actually think Lucky can reroll Portant dice, just from reading it, but it would still be a nice feat to have when a crit rolls around.
The focus would be on the character learning about himself and if anyone else remembers him, and not actually knowing if he really is living the same life he already has with knowledge of the 'future'. Critiques and ideas welcome, I want to flesh this guy out as best as I can. Also wanted him to keep a Spellbook / Diary that was magic in some way, like a tome that when he levels up, spells he's learned before appear as if they'd always been there.
I created a warforged bard who's background was as a member of animatronic band for kids parties. (Something similar to the animatronic band at Chuck E. Cheese) I introduced him to a west marches campaign by having him dropped off in the keep's tavern frozen with his hand out until someone had the idea to put a coin in his hand.
How about an Eldritch Knight that is secretly a Valravn pretending to be a WereRaven? He's following the adventurers because when player parties go places, they tend to stumble upon things like murdered children. If people say he's not a Wereraven he can bluff and say "You caught me, I'm secretly a Tengu."
This is just my friend's character who we always laughed about.
He was a halfling (maybe halfling/gnome mix) called Sir Toto, and he rode a giant dog named Sir Africa (they were both officially knighted). He wore a bucket for a helmet, and his armor wasn't real armor because he was like 2'11" but insisted he was much taller, like 3'10", and armor wouldn't fit him. He had a gun I'm pretty sure, and he really really liked money. He was really funny but I haven't done him justice. Just a funny idea if anyone wanted to use him for inspiration.

I once saw someone playing a gnome barbarian with an ax named Baby that liked to kill humans. Yes, the ax liked to kill humans.

Halfling Bard
It's the shortest race, with the shortest class (by character count)

Warning: The following link contains bad language Who the <bleep> is my character?
I have the second one bookmarked, haha!

I made a Halfling Bard. It was pretty fun. His name was Alton Greenbottle. His background was urchin, and he liked to ride dogs.
If I was making a character that wanted to become all-powerful, what would their alignment be?
Depends on their reasoning for it. It would also depend on what they'd do in pursuit of this goal?

They want to get revenge against all who wronged them. Their flaw is that they would choose power over their friends.
