So there is a human monk whose body is like a prison for the soul of a great evil. The monk struggles to keep this evil contained and for the most part, is successful. However, if the monk is sufficiently weakened by combat, the evil contained with him gains just enough wiggle room to take possession of him.
When that happens a change comes over the monk. He turns from being a pacifist healer/support character into a mighty fighter
His speed, strength and reflexes and senses all increase as he becomes this monstrous thing.
The downside of this great power is that the monk has no control over his alter ego and when it's released, it will fight, kill and destroy everything in its path until the monks body gives out from exhaustion and he literally falls flat on his face.
As the monk slowly recovers, the prison once again tightens around this evil being and drags it down into the depths of the monks soul.
This is why he is a pacifist and a wanderer.. he chooses not to fight so that he doesn't get injured or weakened and thus he can keep the evil inside of him locked away.
He chooses to wander the lonely forgotten places of the world because he knows that in his altered form, he can do terrible damage and he really doesn't want to hurt or kill anyone or destroy anything.
He is an adventurer because he hopes to find some kind of cure or weapon that can slay the evil inside of him. Freeing him and the world from its clutches once and for all.
Curious what you guys think of this character concept

I had this idea for a character.
