The first is in a campaign where we got a free feat at level one, but it's easily replicate by going variant human or custom lineage.
He is a fighter with 8 strength and 8 dex. However, with the magic initiate (druid) feat and taking shillelagh, you have a viable build. Story wise, he summons his dead father into his wooden training sword and his dad's ghost guides the weapon. Later I went into echo knight and reflavored the echo as his dad's spirit.
The other is Sir Bimble Jinglestop, Knight of Yule. I realized that rock gnomes and their abilities are perfect swaps for Christmas elves. He is an Oath of the Crown Paladin (sworn to the service of King Kringle)/Celestial Warlock (his patron is the Christmas Spirit). He's an INCREDIBLY effective tank by making all the baddies focus on him and his high ac. He also casts Protection from Naughty and Nice on himself to give our bad guys (mostly fiends and undead) disadvantage on hitting him while his party casts spells and fires from ranged.
Not mine exactly, but one of my players is using a build we made like a year ago as thought experiment in my current campaign; the baroguelockadin. The idea came from wanting to make the most ridiculous tank build possible.Currently is lv3, but the campaign is going to lv 15.
The plan is 4 levels of rogue, 5 levels of warlock, its either 4 levels of paladin & 2 of barbarian or 4 barbarian & 2 paladin. He hasn't decided exactly for the last two.
If you have any ideas for fun, interesting, or weird (mechanically or story-wise) builds, put them here!
I have done a ton, mostly as NPCs for games I run, but occasionally I play one.
Divine Soul sorcery : Salad the Vegan Brass Dragonborn Healer of Bahamut
Grave Cleric: The Bubble Goth Shadar-Kai Reaper of the Raven Queen.
Kensei Monk: Bob the Topaz Dragon Uses a Meteor Hammer. (The most forgettable dragon on "Torril", who happens to be amazing at everything in the most boring way possible)
Gunfu Master: Very hard to build Monk who uses Guns.
Cheeky "Witch" magic girl - hexblood Wild Magic Barbarian dressed as a classic anime girl witch, even has a broom of flying. Her magic wand hurts a lot as she smashes people in the head.
Fairy race, Blood Hunter order of the Mutant, Sorcerer Clockwork Soul, Fighter Champion, Far Traveler Background, and two HB spells one to copy attacks and spells and the other to transform into objects.

Poyo.
On the other hand, if we want to make Kirbo from TerminalMontage, you could just keep it simple and play a Plasmoid Cleric.

someone else had a similar idea, but I promise, this is an idea I have had for years and never really got round to actually creating
a lizardfolk druid who's actually a human, but due to an accident that interrupted them mid-wild-shaping, they are now stuck in half-lizard half-human form. they probably only, or at least mostly, only wildshape into reptiles.
the moon invocation only means you never sleep. it does not mean you never rest. it just means you can spend your long rests actually doing stuff. you'll still be negatively impacted for not taking long rests.
Aberrant sorcerer changeling. Megaspy, conman, thief. Very much believably a master conman / thief with his skills, psych powers and shapechanging, even at lvl 1..
Interesting NPC character which my fiancee created and we hashed out the details together; Om Nom, the sentient gelatinous cube, who is an aspiring fashion designer. They have a skeleton inside them which they move around to express themselves, and they take giant heartburn tablets daily to keep from dissolving everything they touch.
Mr. Pink, Neutral Evil Deep Gnome Bard, college of eloquence, qho has lavender skin, that throws insults to inspire people to get shit done. He is an info broker who deals in info, some which is falsified via modifed memory. Can't roll lower then a 25 for deception or persuasion, and uses illusions to fool the party and npc's to call in favors from differant creatures via his business cards (like he summoned them). He has actual summoning spells to mix in, so if folks catch on he can summon various characters to silence them or modify memory them.
As info is his game, he uses the spell mind blank daily so no one can read his thoughts, always has nondetection up, and when meeting others will have the spell mislead or similar going so folks only ever talk to an illusion of himself.
He is basically an ******* you can trust, and though socially he is strong, he is weak as hell with low AC and not much for damage in encounters, thus the illusions, but dam, he is so much fun to play!
He may also be a secret pink gnome mind flayer the other players don't know about and that is where his name comes from, but that is just cosmetic.
Hello, everyone. I have come to present what I feel is a rather interesting character, known as Jason Walker (or Jay for short). Now, Mr. Jay Walker here happens to be a very spiffing, yet humble Tortle. His favorite past-times are long walks along the English countryside, drinking copious amounts of Yorkshire tea, and having a top move speed of 210 by level six. (Given a pair of Boots of Speed, he can 420 trail-blaze it, if necessary.)
Now, how is this possible, you may ask? Well, it's quite simple. It all starts off with a single level in Wizard. When you first start off, you get to add up to six spells to your spellbook (along with a couple cantrips). For Cantrips, I'd recommend Fire Bolt and Ray of Frost, because reasons. For the purpose of this build, I'd recommend that at least two of your starting six spells be Longstrider and Expeditious Retreat. Both boost your movement speed in different ways, and since only one of them is Concentration, they can more importantly stack.
Next, you want to take another level in Wizard, and pick up the Bladesinger subclass. When Bladesinging, your movement increases by an additional ten feet, so long as you're not wearing hefty armor or carrying a shield. Since you're just a British Tortle with a walking stick or cane (I'd recommend reflavoring a club or quarterstaff for those), then there's little about your equipment to cause you to lose out on Bladesinging. A nice bonus to this is that Bladesinging stacks with your natural AC, meaning that your AC is going to be a natural 17+Int (or more, if you also grab Bracers of Defense and/or other protective items). Even without a shield, you can wind up being about as well-armored as an Artificer.
From here, we come to a divergent path. You can either take two more levels in Wizard first, and pick up the Mobile feat, or you can take two levels in Monk, in order to gain access to Unarmored Movement. Whichever option you choose, you can always take the other option next. After all, both options give you a decent amount of bonus speed.
Now for the nerdy part of how all this works: The math section. Since you're a Tortle, your base movement speed's gonna be 30. Longstrider, Bladesong, Mobile, and Unarmored Movement are all gonna boost that by 10 each: 10+10+10+10+30 = 70. Dashing as an Action doubles your movement: 70+70 = 140. Dashing as a Bonus Action, via Expeditious Retreat, lets you increase your movement speed again: 140+70 = 210. And of course, there's always the chance that you pick up Boots of Speed: 210x2 = 420 Blazin'.
Even if your DM can somehow come up with a creature that can keep pace with you, Ray of Frost ensures that you can slow its movement speed down in retaliation (among other spells). Plus, even if the creature manages to swing at you, Bladesong brings you up to 22 AC, and casting Shield can boost that up to a total of 27. All that AC gets further boosts from any AC-increasing magical items you got (such as Bracers of Defense), which only serves to make you even harder to kill. Of course, if your DM doesn't try to focus the Wizard? Well... let's just say it's never a good idea to leave the Wizard to his own devices. After all, things can get rather toasty, when someone's within Fireball distance. >;3
Well, I'm sure as soon as torles were introduced into the game, hundreds of people across the world created their own teenage mutant ninja turtle by combining the species with the monk class. :)
