Hello! This is my first time sharing these ideas outside of my personal friend group.
I'm here to share my idea for multiple character builds from various games and see what others think of them.
Let's start with my Favorite, The Doom Slayer Build. Very simple but very fun.
Unfortunately you can't have both Run & Gun tactics in this build but if you want to be the only one alive after fighting a hoard of literal demons, this is the build for you.
Go Variant Human, Get the Tavern Brawler Feat (You'll see why later) and go point buy.
15 Strength, 14 Dexterity, 14 Constitution, 12 Wisdom (Mostly because saving throws), Dump Intelligence and Charisma (Sorry you just can't be good at everything). Put the Human Bonuses into Strength & Constitution and get another +1 to Constitution with Tavern Brawler.
Go full on level 20 Barbarian Path of the Zealot. This perfectly represents the Rage he has for all demons and represents the blessing the Seraphim have him. Now when you can get Medium Armor so you don't have to worry about Dexterity anymore and you can focus on only Constitution and Strength... or Wisdom for those tricky saving throws. Your Punches now deal 1d4 + Strength Mod + Rage Damage + 1d6 + (Half your Barbarian Level) Radiant/Necro Damage, or you can literally rip off a demon's horn or arm and use it as an improvised weapon for the same effect and damage. Even if they resist or don't take non-magical damage you are still dealing that Radiant Damage with your fists or dismembered demons.
Now along with this, thanks to Rage Beyond Death (Level 14) and the Unlimited Rage you get at Level 20... you can literally never die! Before you say anything, YES you can start a new rage before you old one expires. So as long as you remember to refresh your rage (Which only costs a bonus action) You can literally never die to weapon attacks or any damage ever! with only a few exceptions. Those being: Vorpal Weapons, Spells that end your rage, Spells that Bypass Death (I.E: Disintegrate). But other than that you are literally TO ANGRY TO DIE!
Now... hows about some less violent video game characters huh?
The Ness Build
This is pretty easy as well. This is gonna be a Sorcerer (Divine Soul) 17 / Fighter (BattleMaster) 3
This is a mix of both Smash Bros Ness and Earthbound Ness, however it is easy to make it one or the other.
Now Let's simply get some of the main PSI abilities from Earthbound out of the way.
PK Lifeup (Healing Word and just like the different Levels of PK Lifeup there is a Mass Healing Word to AOE Heal the Group), PK Healing (Lesser and Greater Restoration), PK Shield (Shield of Faith or Shield), PK Hypnosis (Sleep... obviously), PK Paralysis (Hold Person / Hold Creature), PK Flash (Sicking Radiance), PK Teleport (Misty Step for Short Range, Teleport to return to familiar towns) and Finally Telepathy (Message & Detect Thoughts)
Now the BattleMaster works for both builds go for these three Maneuvers:
Rally (Get that "Healing" up! Besides you got a lot of Courage to Give), Parry (PK Shield reduces the Damage from Physical Attacks), and Pushing Attack (Get that Homerun strike!)
A nice little combo I do with this build is what I like to call the PK Pattleball! Now You start off with Lightning Lure to pull the opponent within 5 feet of you (Dealing Damage), and then using Quickened Spell to cast Booming Blade to your Baseball Bat (Greatclub) or Yo-yo (Whip) depending of if you are a Strength Based Ness or a Dexterity Based Ness. Now Booming Blade lets you make an attack... which can have a maneuver added to it! That's right you use Pushing Attack to force the creature 15 ft away and if it moves it takes extra thunder damage. Very Powerful and useful.
Now this one is for those who want a Pacifist Character... That's right! Frisk and Kris!
Let's start with Frisk... Ok let's face it, this kid is 100% a Rogue. With those dodges and unwillingness to die, what else could this child be?
For Pacifist / Neutral Frisk go Rogue (Thief)... Why Thief? This is my headcanon but I like to image every time you spare a creature they walk away from you as you pickpocket them for trying to fight you. I mean why else would they give you money? They don't... you take it. Also you straight up rob a dead kids necklace and knife. Along with all that you are able to equip items that are meant for other souls classes... Sounds like a Thief to me. Now go with Persuasion and Insight for your skills and Expertise. You have to know what's wrong with the person before you can persuade them to be your friend. Build the kid right and you should be getting over 30 persuasions checks when befriending peps.
Now if you are a sicko and want Genocide Frisk go with either Assassin or Swashbuckler. Assassin is self explanatory, Go Deception & Performance expertise and when they think you aren't a threat you auto crit from surprising them or Swashbuckler so you can dodge magical spears while doing a bunch of damage in 1v1 matches against the bosses.
Now Kris is a whole other story. This lad... is a Fighter Samurai! Here's why. He clearly is full of determination so he won't go down easy (Fighting Spirit), He defends his allies (Protection Fighting Style), and is amazing at Diplomacy (Elegant Courtier)! All while still being able to throw down if need be. Now I highly recommend you going variant human and picking prodigy and putting it in Persuasion. If you max out your Wisdom and Charisma you will have a +24 in persuasion rolls by the time you reach the endgame... You literally can befriend anyone with that kind of charm, while being willing to kick some butt!
Tell me what you guys think and feel free to share some builds you have for other video game characters!
I'm weird in that I consider the official "class" to be a set of rules for the sake of playing mechanics, but I don't consider the class name to be how the character identifies. The PHB doesn't have a "pirate" class but I know of a character who always addresses himself as such—and everyone else addresses him as "think's he's a pirate" including the DM, but to be faaaair, he has a ship [that everyone calls a "boat" but it really is a ship] and is the captain of a cursed, undying crew that he's trying to save (even though part of the curse is that they have to try to kill him every two years because he managed to evade the curse but not before spending 8 coins of the cursed treasure).
The above character is part of a party that is extremely frustrating for their DM because they evade the overwhelming majority of fights. Out of all of their adventures, they've had to fight only 4 of the BBEGs, 2 of which were ended creatively rather than by martial efforts. They might be considered a pacifist party if it wasn't for the unintended, indirect deaths of many innocents due to their carelessness. They are not welcomed in several towns, anymore, despite saving said towns.
As for video game characters: I have a "monk" who's just a janitor with high wisdom but really low intelligence. Blonde, blue-eyed, clean-shaven, kind of "a sunny, though vague, disposition." He's good at improvised solutions but bad at understanding simple concepts such as social norms, why sleeping on the job is bad form, or basic math. This one is based on (and copy-infringingly named from) Roger Wilco. He excels with a quarterstaff which is a mop. (In Space Quest: Incinerations, you get to see his Mop-Fu in action for once.) All translated into Medieval Fantasy excepting the name, though. (He stopped licking runes for fun when he was six.)
Human. Male. Possibly. Don't be a divider. My characters' backgrounds are written like instruction manuals rather than stories. My opinion and preferences don't mean you're wrong. I am 99.7603% convinced that the digital dice are messing with me. I roll high when nobody's looking and low when anyone else can see.🎲 “It's a bit early to be thinking about an epitaph. No?” will be my epitaph.
