long title is the question. Are the maps that come with the adventure books on DDB good enough for roll20 or should I look elsewhere?
Thinking of trying to run LMoP via roll20 with some friends. we got halfway through in person but can't meet as easily anymore due to job changes. I figured I'd just buy it on here but I really only need it for the maps. I don't mind buying the whole book again since I can much more easily look through the book on my phone. However if the maps end up looking terrible on roll20 I'd rather just find the maps elsewhere.
This isn't so much just for LMoP either as after it we'd like to run another adventure book (mayde CoS) and so I wonder if I'd hit the same predicament then too.
If the adventure book maps aren't good enough do any of you recommend a good place to get good quality maps that are based on adventure books?
I've had terrible luck getting the battlemaps to line up properly on roll20. Maybe I just suck at it lol, but I've been considering just buying the module on roll20 itself just for ease of use.

I thought about that too but I'd hate to start spreading my books across two separate applications :/
I completely agree, that's why I haven't pulled the trigger on R20 yet. I own the legendary bundle here and don't particularly want to spend any more money on D&D investing in another platform.

Yeah I hope DDB eventually does something similar with campaigns. I'd love to just run campaigns straight out of DDB with the books, character sheets, and the encounter builder

If they ever do this, they will have ALL of my remaining monies.....I use Roll20 currently and it's ok, but I use the Beyond20 extension so I only really need Roll20 for the virtual table top. I would absolutely LOVE to dump Roll20 and go full DnD Beyond. Tried Fantasy Grounds too, not a fan.
Here's how I scale maps for use in roll20 in photoshop
Save the map from DDB to my computer
Open it in PS
Use the measure tool to determine the width/height of the grid in pixels
Divide 7,000 by that number (for example, if the grid was 40 pixels, I'd do 7000/40).
Why 7,000? Because we want a percentage to scale the image by, and to do that we do (70/Grid size) x 100, which is the same as 7,000/grid size.
Go to image size (Ctrl+Alt+I) and set the size to 'percentage'
Take the value you got from Step 4 and put that in as the image percentage
You now should have the image scaled up so that the grid is 70px, the same as roll20. Measure it just to be sure.
Now comes the real time saving bit; cropping your map. Place a guide so that it lines up with the top most grid line of the map, and another so it lines up with the left most grid line. These guides should intersect in the top left of your map.
Take the marquee tool and set it to fixed size, 140 x 140
Place a marquee selection so it's bottom-right corner lines up with the intersection in step 8
Place a guide on the far left and top sides of that section. You now have a left and top boundary of the map that is two grid squares wider and higher than the map.
Using the crop tool, crop the top and left sides of the map to those guides, but make sure the crop tool lines up with the existing bottom and right sides, you only want to crop the top and left edges. Note, this may make your map bigger.
Now comes some more math; Open up the canvas size dialogue (Ctrl+Alt+C) and set the dimensions to pixels. For both the height and width, divide each number by 70. Take the result, round it down to the nearest whole number, then multiple it by 70. But that number in for the width/height and confirm. This will trim off some of your map
Now, in theory, you'll have a map that is
Scaled to a 70 px grid size
Scaled so the image is in units of 70 px
Aligned so the grid is a whole number of grid squares from the edge
Now, when you bring this into roll20, you just need to set the map to the same size as the image, drag it onto the map layer, and scale it to fit. Hopefully the grids will align
Note
Some maps have multiple sections that aren't connected to each other and not aligned with the grid. What I do with them is copy them to another layer, place some guides that line up with the main part of the map in the rough area (one vertical and one horizontal) and shift that part around.
Also, I find it's a lot easier and more forgiving on roll20 to disable the grid altogether and just use free movement. Covers up a multitude of sins

If you are not aware there is a tool in roll20 that makes this much easier, https://wiki.roll20.net/Aligning_Maps

I tried this but it still felt a little off. I'll keep tinkering with it to see if I can make it work

It's on the roadmap (as long-term) but we're getting closer with every other feature we release.
