I just buy the Starters Set and the Essentials Kit at the store right now and found the code for the Digital Version of the Essential kit. Dose the Starter set not come with one? Would love to have the Digital Version of Lost Mine Of Phandelver but did not find anything in the box. Dose anyone know why? Will I have to repay for the Digital Version? I'm sorry if this question has already been asked/answered, I was looking for it in the Forums but didn't see one with the answer.
The Starters Kit does not come with a digital code.
The Essential Kit was a collaboration WotC specifically did with some of the licensed toolsets, like D&D Beyond, and because of this the kit was able to include a free version of the adventure and a code off the PHB for use on specific toolsets like D&D Beyond.
They didn't collab with the Starters Kit because it was released before most digital toolsets were even made.
Technically, sets are sold at loss in order to generate future income by enticing new people to play and eventually buy more of the books. This is a risk and it pays off but it takes time. Part of the availability of this was also deals made with certain stores like Walmart who bought the right to sell the product before anyone else could. So we can't expect them to retroactively start doing this for Starter Sets with their popularity significantly less than it used to be - it simply wouldn't be profitable enough.

Okay, thanks for the reply. That make a lot of since, wasn't sure why one came with it and the other one didn't. I'm late in replaying D&D again, last time I played was with 4e. Didn't know about the box set's until like a week ago, knew I had to get them because I love having box sets. Have the Player's kit and Basic Game for 3.5 I got at comic con forever ago. I've been waiting on getting new stuff due to the cost of everything and how new everything is (which is not, I'm just late in the game), with all the different places and online VTT there are. I didn't want to invest into one system and worry if I was going to like it or not. I've been using D&D Beyond for character sheets and now I have the Essentials Kit Digital Version and a code for a discount for the players handbook (which I now have :-D). I'm Loving D&D Beyond more and more.
Oh yeah, I did find those and have them all but still not sure what VTT to use yet ... So far getting books on D&D beyond will get me what I need, I'm handy with Photoshop/Gimp so I can probably make my own mods for any campaign I'm thinking of running. Anyone have any suggestions on VTT's? ... I'm in a couple of campaigns in roll20, I've been playing around with some other ones (none downloadable ones). Roll20 kind of looks the same from when I played 4E.
Seems like foundry is the most praised but you need to host it yourself so a little networking setup. Eventually I'll offer one as a feature poor but free online version, but thats a lower priority on my list.

Not sure if you found it, but the base rules (SRD) are free
