The alpha for the app will start before the end of this year. Users that are eligible for participating in the alpha will be notified once it's available.
what are the requirements to become eligible to participate in the alpha? i'd like to be able to do this for my game with all the players in our game (and i don't think it would be particularly good without all of them). - is there anything I or they can do to make sure they have the potential to alpha test?
also yes we are used to alpha level software testing and understand that there will be bugs and missing features and ux issues - we just really want to help make the app the best it can be :-)
Since space for the alpha test is limited, users that are eligible for the alpha are restricted to those that either purchased a Legendary Bundle on DDB or pre-ordered Xanathar's on DDB.

interesting - thanks for the information!
is there a deadline by which those need to be / need to have been purchased by to be eligible?
i realize this is entirely in curse's hands and you guys can run your alpha however you want - but i would like to point out that with those criteria you will not be getting any alpha testing from anyone who doesn't have xanathar's guide (which also means no one with zero purchases). the user without purchases is an interesting use case as it could potentially be your largest user base for the app (most people don't buy stuff if they don't have to and i could easily see a large user base of people who want to make characters for free (possibly with ads) and join DMs games who are sharing content they have purchased).
but maybe you want to wait for beta to include a larger cross section of potential users :-)
I need offline access to my rulebooks on a laptop. I can't be the only one.
Yeah, loads of people want it, but from what I understand, it's not really viable for them to do it.
Only reason I could see it being "not viable" would be licensing issues with WotC. It would be really easy to write *an* app in C# and be able to distribute it on Android/IOS/Linux/MacOS/Windows, in fact, just about any platform available.

Also, don't forget that there is internal testing, which has such use cases covered. :)
