Alot of us players have some characters that we really want to play, but they just don't work.
Whether its trying to spin a backstory, or choose a race to go with some cool art you found. Or trying to make an ubsured backstory or character consept work for the game.
I would like this thread to be where people can help each other make their characters work.
So if you have a character that needs some spice, or one that needs less spice, then please post them here and get some feedback.
I wanted to make a poisoner character, who specialises in high-profile assassination. They are arrogant and believe that using long words makes them seem more photosynthesis. They aren't athletically capable but are intelligent and sneaky, and would use a variety of poison and poison spells to make their way through the world. Unfortunately, this sort of character doesn't synergise that well with players who want to run in and hit stuff, as it would take some preparation to get their poisons in position!
My first attempt at this character ended up being a Drow who used poison spells (actually using poison powders etc. to give the same effects), and it wasn't all that fun to play.

Photosynthesis? Why?
Perhaps use the new poisoner feat, or a conjuration wizard? A conjuration wizard can use minor conjuration to make a 1 use poison. This only works if the DM allows it though...

Sorry, Photosynthesis was a joke - the implication of the phrase is that "using long words make you seem smarter". Photosynthesis is a long word, so I injected it to make me seem smarter, which obviously has the opposite effect, which is the joke ;)
I've not got any of the books beyond the PHB, DMG and MM - fingers crossed for christmas!
They are a mummy like character, I have gone threw the phantom rouge, and thought about the spirit bard, and fianly landed on the shadow sorcoror.
My problem is, what would make sence for them to still be whering burial bandages?
They died and where raped up and put in their familys mausoleum. After enough time passed for their family to die out, they where raised for some reason I'll work out with the DM for story junk.
They have partial amnesia, and cant remember most of their life....
Anyway, any ideas?
Feel free to post your characters problems wether or not you have an idea to help out
Perhaps the bandages are actually leather, and it is hide or padded armor? Maybe if your DM let's you take a magic item it is parts of a cloak of protection?
The bandages could have fused with your skin, making it impossible to remove them. Or they could be part of the magic used to raise you, and needed to keep you alive. Or you could just be superstitious about them.

Want to start playing but don't have anyone to play with? You can try these options: [link].
For the poisoner character you could look at alchemist artificer for boosts to poison spells at lvl 5 and you can use an infusion for making an alchemy jug which can dispense poison.
For the mummy, why wouldn't they keep wearing the wraps. Could be related to disfigurement, the enchantment that keeps you alive, or literally to hold all you guts in.

Like thalaidawncaller said, I think the pisoner feat would make the caracter work alot better.
It lets you craft Multiple poisons for alot less than their worth, so they could be sold to make more.
And it lets you poison weapons as a bonus action. You could even give your poison to the party..... for them to use if course....hehe
Anyway 2d6 extra damage, and a chance to poison the target for a moment, that sounds like it would help, if not fix your problem.

That does sound a lot more like what I was going for, which book is the poisoner feat in?

Poisoner is in Tasha's Cauldron of Everything.
Find your own truth, choose your enemies carefully, and never deal with a dragon.
"Canon" is what's factual to D&D lore. "Cannon" is what you're going to be shot with if you keep getting the word wrong.
May I ask for help with a character of my own?
