So I keep seeing yellow dragonborns everywhere and I’m wondering what that’s all about, what breath weapon do they have, what dragon are they related to, why are they yellow!?!? I’ve seen it on the draconblood race thing and the acquisitions incorporated Donaar blit’zen dude. I’m just wondering if anyone else has Been having nightmares about yellow dragonborn, has anyone spotted any others?
I didn’t really know where to put this thread if someone has a complaint I will probably make one there.
edit: I would tooltip Donaar but I’m such and idiot when it comes to that.
edit 2: I’m going to sleep so the four people viewing this aren’t going to get any responses.
Yellow dragons haven't been statted out in 5th Edition. Dragonborn coloration isn't actually firmly tied to their breath weapon and resistance. So it could honestly be any of the dragonborn subtypes.

"Canon" is what's factual to D&D lore. "Cannon" is what you're going to be shot with if you keep getting the word wrong.
In lore, most dragonborn have some level of yellow to brown coloration due to centuries of interbreeding the scale colors.
In practice, most people just use whatever scale colors they want. it really does not matter much.

Long answer: It depends on what the dragonborn is. Like others have said it could very easily be a gold, brass, or bronze dragonborn with simplified color scales. It could also be a specific dragonborn that has taken draconic bloodline sorcerer of a different color to give themselves the appearance of a yellow dragon (Like a Red dragonborn with Green Draconic Bloodline would make a yellow dragon appearance via color theory). Within other editions, Yellow dragons have had a variety of breath weapons including sand and hot air. There is also the possibility that it could be a gemstone dragon (Topaz, or Amber), a radiant dragon, or any number of the miscellaneous dragon types that have existed throughout DND history. I recommend this page that gets into dragons better and gives options of where you'd like to look to learn about more.
In 2nd edition, Yellow dragons were a rare species native to deserts and had a breath weapon consisting of hot air and sand.
For 5th edition, you can basically treat them as evil Brass dragons.
I will have my Yellow dragonborn to have blinding salt breath, can be cured by fresh water sources but still characters will have some disadvabtage on Con rolls.
I MUCH prefer the concepts ( besides flightless concept, then they are just oversized Drakes ) of the Orange, Purple and Yellow dragons from Dragon magazine #65 and #248. Much more unique. Yellows were described with a concentrated SALT breath that could cause blindness, Con save I think. White dragons are said to be the smallest but Yellows the physically weakest. However like Sapphire, Bronze, Topaz and partly Blue dragons, Yellows lives in coastal regions and ARE the fastest with flight speed of 120 feet! I hope WotC use this concept for yellow salt dragon instead of the more resent yellow sand dragon. The Brown desert dragon feels bit less unique due to that and I think Brown also had searing sand breathweapon. The current " yellow " dragon could be called Sand dragon. Like how WotC indirectly made room for Purple energy dragon by calling the new addition in Fibans Treasury of dragon for Deep dragon, as to not confuse the two it seems. They have common goals but the Purple seems more active, exploring the undergrounds due to bit more slender body. The Deep seems more territorial, live in and near cavern fungi and mushroom areas and even let shrooms grow on it AND have a psycotropic fungi spore breath weapon. They also dosent seemlike a true looking dragon due to wings attach to arms. Lastly. Orange dragons live in/ near jungles lakes and rivers. Ambush prey under water and have a soduim compund, explosive breath weapon. And yes also have wings like all TRUE dragons should have. Orange dragons have occurent disputes with Blacks and Green where the jungle overlap swamps and forests. I so hope WotC will use this! Twitter em or something

It was a save vs breath weapon. Back in 2nd Edition, saving throws were really wonky.

Sure it's not gold? Or brass? Lol. I love how dragons are reduced to colors...

Well yes, I was just wondering if there is a definitive breath weapon. It doesn’t really matter anyway. Thanks for you’re opinions.
Yellow dragons as per 2e and 4e had a breath weapon that was a jet stream of scorching sand.
