How do I disable the game log for my game? As the DM I often open the character sheet to do secret rolls on behalf of the character, and now they aren't secret.
Or we could just have an option to toggle its functionality off. It's really ******* annoying seeing everyone's rolls. Very cool feature, but nonetheless a pain in the ass when Beyond already tries to force itself into Roll20
Gotta agree with this one... Would be nice to run simulations of battles without the game log keeping track of everything and spoiling future encounters
I agree I find the game log very distracting, I hate seeing the notification icon on every new message in the log. I know it’s my own ocd but I’d love to be able to turn it off.
I can definitely see an argument for an off option and a private/public option, especially with DDB building this stuff out for an eventual VTT. It's a pretty standard feature of the rest of them.
I find it a bit frustrating that the beyond20 roller plugin is just so so much better than what D&D beyond have released.
Its like when you see big companies keep making crappy alternatives to existing popular services, instead of just buying / partnering with the successful service.
Just pay the guy that made beyond20 and integrate that into the platform to export to the game log.
It's called the "Not Built Here" syndrome. That said, give it time, I'm sure it will improve. You have to work within the existing infrastructure, so first pass is to get something workable within your system and that's what they've done. Rather than waiting till it's perfect they have released it as is so they can get feedback and show progress. Pop out window, private rolls, all that will come.
For the meantime, physical dice make great private rolls.
I mean....even just a nice clear log button would be beneficial as well. I'm sure it's in the docket given beta/alpha status is still applied to some of the features that take advantage of this new log
I would love an option to switch it on and off. We use the beyond20 extension for our roll20 games and some of my players have started having issues with their rolls not coming through since this was integrated.

DDB has a lot going on behind the scenes to make everything work, and I think the plug-in is probably just scraping results off the "surface" as it were.
There should be a way to turn it off. I have players use DNDBeyond at the table, and they use physical dice. But on occassions they randmonly like to click the digital dice to see what the result is. This causes notifications on EVERYONE in the campaign, causing confusion on what dice to roll.
Some players including myself like to keep rolls hidden. I would like a way to toggle the game log on and off. I have some players that use it to metagame and it's really annoying.

A workaround could be to have a spare character who isn't in the campaign open in another tab. Those rolls shouldn't go to the campaign log.
That is an interesting use case. Maybe DMs could have an option to make the roll public or private?

1+ for an option to turn it off

I think the DM should be able to control this.
+1 for "would love the ability to turn this off"

Totally agree. I would love an option to turn on/off the game log and a button to clear it.
Even if there was a Clear Game Log button for the DM only, that would be a help.
