Here's the bio for a wood monk npc from my campaign you can use if you want:
Name: Kee N'Loss (pronounced Keenan Loss, Kee for short), Kee was a petty thief, running with a small gang in (insert city), he got singled out by the local thieves guild and trained to be a bouncer and pit fighter. His monasitc training is the fighting style he was taught for pit fighting so is much more of a UFC/brawling style than shaolin/kung fu. As he became more reknowned in the pits fighting arena he recieved some additional training to help with other guild activities and became a skilled infiltrator (taking way of shadow for monk abilities and evolving into more of a brutal ninja style of fighting).
If taking him as a pc then I'd give him the Wood Elf Magic feat at lvl 4 to get a free pass without trace and longstrider and probably primal savagery as a cantrip for those instances when you need to stop something regenerating. Then maybe look at Elven accurracy for that sweet extra d20 when rolling to attack with advantage.
