Currently have 1 spot open for this campaign
This campaign is currently running weekly with 5 players, we recently had a player leave, so looking for someone to fill the vacant spot. We are currently 33 sessions in and have not missed a single session since our start back in February.
About me
Hello! I am a 28-year-old Dane, who loves all things fantasy (especially Tolkien). In the last few years, I have completely fallen for D&D, ever since I saw the very first session of Critical Role, I have since then started running my own games. I enjoy running games and creating a fun experience for my players. I endeavour to create the best experience for all my players and to deliver a great engrossing story for them to explore. I take great inspiration from Matt Colville and I like to run my games and campaigns by the rule of cool, if you have something you would like to do, then we’ll make it work (within reason of cause)
I currently run multiple groups a week with over 3300 hours logged on Roll20 I would consider myself a professional DM. I am very thankful that I’m able to supplement my student income by doing something that brings happiness to others. The current groups I got running have each been going on for well over a year now, so I’m very familiar with running long games, where you can really get a chance to dive down into the world with your characters.
This adventure:
The current story takes place with the party currently dealing with some goblinoid problems threatening the small town of Drellings Ferry, however, they have recently uncovered a detailed battleplan by the goblins, alluding to it being a much larger problem than first thought, an army of goblins have been amassed. Our heroes are now finding themselves in a race against the clock, attempting to sabotage an ancient bridge, to slow down the goblin army's advance and buy the much needed time for the people of Drellings Ferry to evacuate the town.
The party is currently level 6, and you would join the group at this level. I would work well with you to create and weave your character into the world in some way and have you as smoothly as possible be introduced.
This campaign as a whole:
The game will be set in the forgotten realms setting, however, I use the setting as a framework from which there might be slight differences.
The first campaign will be a pre-made adventure with a slight spin on it from myself and then followed up by a larger and more expansive adventure where the players really will get to be put through their paces. In the long run, there are plenty of possibilities for the party, or the characters themselves to get castles, keeps or other forms of home bases. For this, we will use the book by Matt Colville “Strongholds and Followers”
The first adventure will take you from levels 6 - 11 and if the chemistry is right and the group wants too, I got an add-on ready for this campaign taking you from levels 11 - 18 This would then make the campaign a very long-running one (multiple months’ worth), with plenty of room for individual character growth and for the party to grow together allowing players to get the full experience of all the levels in D&D.
These stories are designed as the classic good vs evil medieval fantasy story, where the "players" are all part of a grander scheme of things going on in the world. I would as such work diligently with you to weave your character into the story in a satisfying way so that you have a sense of stake in the world.
About my games
The campaigns and stories I run are well suited for people completely new to D&D, I have had great success in the past introducing new players to D&D. The campaigns are also well suited to veterans that are looking for a stable group to play with weekly, I pride myself on the stability and consistency of my groups which never misses a session, and you can rely on a weekly consistency.
I employ professional made battle maps, area maps and other supporting art, so there will always be something for your eye to explore while the game is on. I use plenty of ambience and thematical music throughout the session to improve the feel and bring you into the story. I use hand-outs for magical items, found lore, notes and other items found during the game, many of these custom made for the group.
Even though these are premade adventures then I only use them as a framework from which I add a lot of my own spin to the story, and flesh out many areas in greater detail, so every place and every person you encounter will feel like a living person in the world. Even if you know the adventure at hand, then you can expect many hidden plots and expansive elements added to the story.
How I run the game
The aim of the game is for all involved to have fun. This never comes at the expense of someone else’s, so my main focus point when running the game will always be to ensure everyone leaves at the end of a session feeling satisfied. I usually communicate with players between sessions, to judge the feeling for the campaign, and to gather feedback etc. I pride myself on my commitment to your game and group, and the stability at which my games are run. I try to keep combat running fast and smooth bringing a lot of energy to the game.
The rule of cool
I am a firm believer in the rule of cool and generally quite relaxed and open about going slightly outside the book rules. However, the rule of thumb is to assume the book rules take president unless we have spoken and agreed otherwise. “I follow the rules when they make sense, sometimes rules are made to be broken”.
Quick details
Schedule: Weekly, Sundays at 8:00 PM CET / GMT+1 (The time can be slightly adjusted to the group’s needs) Game Length: 3 hours per session. Starting Level: 6 Finishing Level: 11 (with a continuation module taking you to level 18) Maximum Group Size: 6 players We will use roll20 to play on Discord server for you players as a group and connection in and out of the game Voice only required
About the price
Session 0 and session 1 will be free, to allow you as a group and player to get a feel for how I DM and run the game.
Why pay?
Running a game takes a lot of planning and out of session effort; I also invest a lot of what I might earn back into the campaigns, buying professional maps, and images, Roll20 subscription etc.
Paying also ensures that you will be in for quality and that I will never cancel a session.
In my experience with paid games players are also more invested and this allows for greater gameplay experience, more stability, and all-around a higher quality experience.
Payment
Payment will be made through Paypal or Revolut. Whichever service you find easiest, Revolut has much better transfer fees and currency exchange, so I would suggest using this one. You can pay weekly or pay monthly. (Most people prefer the latter, as it’s easier to keep track of) If you should be unable to attend a session then you still have to pay for said session. You’re buying into the “spot” in the campaign. This I believe ensures the highest level of attendance and commitment from the other players as well, increasing the enjoyment of the game.
Character creation
Ability scores: You can go with two ways of doing this, 27 Point buy or roll using the 3 ups - 3 down method. (I allow for stats to be generated between 6 and 16) I use these ways of generating ability points as it guarantees a balanced starting point for that party.
If you’re a completely new player and not sure about making a character then I have a few premade characters that would weave into the story in different ways, this can be explored if you want to use them, or maybe take inspiration from their backstories to make something of your own.
I like to work player characters into the story in some way, down the road or right from the start. So when creating your character I like to be involved and work with you to make your dreams and the story you wish to explore reality. I would recommend that if you have a character in mind, it would be beneficial to create the character to fit the world, rather than expecting the world to fit your character.
Further details about character creation will be discussed prior to the game.
What players to expect
You should expect players of the same calibre and frame of mind as yourself, as I aim to get a group with the same ideals and wants from the campaign. So there will be a bit of an interview process to guarantee the best player chemistry. I have had great success in the past doing this and managed to get good group chemistries, as can be seen with my current groups running uninterrupted for over a year now.
Homebrew rules
Potions: Using a Potion (of any kind) on yourself is a bonus action, whereas using it on others is an action.
Health: You will roll for Hit Points upon levelling, however, if you roll below the average, you may take the average instead. "your rolling to try and get above the average"
Death Save: Death Saves will be rolled by the unconscious player and shared only with the DM. This is to avoid metagame knowledge and introduce a sense of urgency when someone goes down.
Being knocked unconscious: First time in combat is the normal rules, 2nd time you're knocked unconscious on the same day, you will take a point of exhaustion, 3rd time another point and so on. This is an attempt to portray the stress that is put upon the character's body through the traumas of being knocked out.
Flanking: Flanking will not give advantage on attacks but instead be a +2 to your attack roll, you will get a +1 if you're not directly opposite your ally, opening up a larger flanking angle. This rule also applies to enemies.
Other house rules will be discussed as the game goes on and when they become relevant.
General rules of conduct
Please try to design a character that will be able to work as a team and function with the rest of the party. (no edgy characters)
If a player is abusive or discriminatory towards another player or myself, they will be promptly removed from the game. This is to ensure everyone plays in a fun environment. There is a zero-tolerance policy for this kind of behaviour.
The game is about having fun if you feel you’re not having as much as you would want, talk to me and we might be able to change things for the better. I make a big point out of talking to my players between sessions and adjusting the game accordingly to the feedback.
Please respect your fellow players and your DM. I would ask that everyone acts friendly towards one another and gives others an equal chance to share the spotlight.
No one's fun comes at the expense of someone else's.

The party just defeated the Green dragon Ozzyrandion and destroyed the Skull Gorge bridge, the only way across the massive crevasse for the goblin horde. This has bought the party much needed time to warn the people of Drellings Ferry about the impending doom, what choice going forward is going to be interesting to see.
The Current Party composition is as follows
Charlotte the Human Rogue/Fighter Nolok the Dwarven Paladin of Vengence Walton The Human Fighter Midas The Human Lore Bard Kazomar The half-orc Cleric of Tempus
Cael the Woodelf Beastmaster Ranger (the person that had to leave the party, who will rejoin again come January)
We are hopefully looking to introduce 'you' to the group for this coming Sunday the 7th. Where I would work with you over the week to make you ready for the game and working in your character into the world and setting.
im looking for a game that has a fair mix of action and rp but would love to get more in depth with rp including the characters back story and how they fit into the story
i hope to bring a light and fun personality to have a bunch of jokes with this group and make some bonds inside the game and outside.
im looking for a laid people where i can have a lot of fun and enjoy myself i would also like them to be very upfront and honest if anything is bothering them
Ive been a dm for about a year and half running with my friends but things have dropped out and they can longer play Ive also always wanted to play as a player. i don't have that much experience with roll20 i did sign up and fiddle around but im more than happy to learn!
my group managed to play through most of the water-deep dragon heist before splitting up not including water-deep dungeon
The current people in the party are a very mixed bunch who are all super kind and open. We have a good mix of ages ranging from 20 to 38 years, allowing for a mature and friendly environment. Everyone is accepting and energetic, and really happy to delve into RP with each other. Kazomar she might at first strike you as a brutish half-orc, but she would love nothing more than to pull a prank on you, but when need raises in combat she will be there to close your wounds. Charlotte she is an aspiring Harper who has practised the use of the longbow well, she's the party information gathered and keeper (in and out of game) and will often come up with a crazy plan to solve a problem. Midas is the party bard with a draconic sorcerous origin that he himself is not quite sure of, due to his gold dragon ancestry he has been dubbed the party treasure, as.. well.. it was futile attempting to stop him gathering all the gold he could. Walton the stalwart, moral compass of the group, often is the groups nail keeping them from spiralling into chaos, he keeps the party on track and comes up with practical plans. He often has been called The Stonewall, having held the line multiple times alone against overwhelming odds. Nolok a veteran dwarf from the orc wars in the north, is much like Walton an eager fighter who keeps his own. A dwarf of few words, but being a paladin he often speaks reason and sense when he finally shares his wisdom.

What kind of story/game are you after?: A focus on roleplaying, with skill checks and contests, as well as combat. 70/30 or 80/20 split RP/combat? All sessions don't have to be steeped in combat encounters, you can still get a lot of fun and action out of conversations and skill checks. But if I don't get to roll a die because the entire session is talking, it had better be frickin' epic conversations... To be clear, I do not mind combat heavy sessions, but if that's all it is every session, I'll do something else. High or dark fantasy or whatever are both fine. I like when choices have actual consequences. I like when death saves are private between player and DM, so the party really needs to make an effort and not slack off. Personally I prefer a setting where raising people from the dead is difficult/near impossible (exception could be revivify which is okay. For example maybe being raised from the dead has an impact, where you either have to use reincarnation? Or their time "on the other side" changes them and they end up as Reborn or similar?) Anyway, just ideas, I am totally fine with RAW as well ;)
What will you bring to the group?: I would bring some voice acting, knowledge and experience, hopefully some fun. Also probably a kobold who just teleported in from elsewhere. He has no clue where he is at the moment, he's been waylaid by a goblin patrol, and has been on the run for a while now. He's wearing a now slightly tattered and ripped navy admiral's coat and hat, and introduces himself as Duke Kipstopher the First (Kip for short). When asked how he got here he will most likely reply "The Goddess of Magic did it... She's a bit erratic at times..." Oh, if it wasn't clear, he's a wild mage sorcerer.
What would your ideal group look like? (what kind of people would you usually get along with?): I'm a pretty chill dude who gets along with most people, but would like a group that has room for input from everyone, where people contribute, but don't dominate each other and the conversation. I am usually sensitive to inner conflict in a group between players and prefer it when everyone has fun. Minor conflict between party members is fine when done right. Oh, and no prejudiced/bigoted people who attack faiths, sexual orientations, and so on.
What experience have you got with DnD, 5e, Roll20, and RP in general? I started playing Dungeons and Dragons at the age of 6, back in 1989/1990. Been on and off through the years, with lots of 3.0, 3.5, Pathfinder, (plus Call of Cthulhu, Warhammer Fantasy battle 2nd ed) then a few years break before I "recently" (4 years ago?) started playing quite a bit of 5e. I've played a lot online the last few years. Have experience with FantasyGrounds, Foundry, and Roll20 (but all my games ported to foundry a couple of years ago). I've been very much a "theatre of the mind" player where not necessarily everything that goes through my character's head and changes him is voiced and shared. I've evolved lately when I started going into unknown territory with some voice acting as it helps me dive deeper into the character. Also DM'ing Baldur's Gate - Descent Into Avernus for my friends at the moment.
Played any premade campaigns before? if so which ones? Played Hoard of the Dragon Queen and Baldur's Gate - Descent Into Avernus, as well as most of the Icewind Dale campaign. Other than that I've played 2 modules that I believe are called "Leviathan's Tomb" and "The Barrier Peaks." This is from whence Duke Kipstopher comes (upon finishing Leviathan's Tomb all the players are rewarded the title of "Duke" of the destitute state that hired them). The last module is on hiatus/died half a year ago, but I had an absolute blast with Kip and would like to remake him for your campaign, and as it happens that he is a wild mage there is a fairly logical reason for him to suddenly pop up. He's an already finished character with a rich background that has a usable introduction to the party and campaign. He was level 7 or 8, but I'll just remake him as level 6.
Anything else?: Naw, I'm pretty good. I have an RP group going every other Sunday already, but we meet earlier in the day, so there is no conflict timewise. (Also a group on Saturdays and I DM my own group Wednesdays...)
Questions for me?: Is there flexibility in allowing small house rules? As an example; I would like to use this wild magic table (https://www.dandwiki.com/wiki/Wild_Magic_Surge_Table,_Variant_(5e_Variant_Rule)) (Edit#2: The automatic link is broken because it doesn't include the (5e_Variant_Rule) for some reason, so copy paste instead of using the hyperlink) It seems balanced and also wildly expanded upon from 50 results to 300. A definite improvement. Also, I would like for the DM to be in charge of the table, I won't go look, so when I roll, if there is no immediate effect, don't tell me what happened unless you need help remembering... I would like to roll though, I'm just not going to look at the result personally.
The other one would be the general consensus/fact that Sorcerers have a way too limited selection of spells that they know and can cast. Tasha's Cauldron of Everything recognized this problem and took steps to fix the problem with their new two subclasses. Homeruled tables exist for the other bloodlines as well. Basically bloodline domain spells. Like this table here: https://www.gmbinder.com/share/-MRY4U1W8dLMwlLGV9ca
We are still accepting applications for the campaign, until next Friday from where we'll be picking the best fit for the group. If anyone should have any questions then feel free to ask away.
Even if you apply and would be a good fit, then I do potentially have the possibility to fit you into one of my many other weekly groups, or even into a completely new campaign that I would be starting up in about a months time.
Thank you to all those that showed interest, we have now found a new member for the Sunday group. Should any of you still be interested in any of my other campaigns then feel free to send me a message and inquire further.

If you should be unable to attend a session then you still have to pay for said session. You’re buying into the “spot” in the campaign. This I believe ensures the highest level of attendance and commitment from the other players as well, increasing the enjoyment of the game.

A focus on roleplaying, with skill checks and contests, as well as combat.
Or their time "on the other side" changes them and they end up as Reborn or similar?) Anyway, just ideas, I am totally fine with RAW as well ;)
What will you bring to the group?:
I would bring some voice acting, knowledge and experience, hopefully some fun.
(what kind of people would you usually get along with?):
I'm a pretty chill dude who gets along with most people, but would like a group that has room for input from everyone, where people contribute, but don't dominate each other and the conversation.
Anything else?:
Naw, I'm pretty good. I have an RP group going every other Sunday already, but we meet earlier in the day, so there is no conflict timewise. (Also a group on Saturdays and I DM my own group Wednesdays...)
Questions for me?:
Is there flexibility in allowing small house rules? As an example;
I would like to use this wild magic table
(https://www.dandwiki.com/wiki/Wild_Magic_Surge_Table,_Variant_(5e_Variant_Rule)) (Edit#2: The automatic link is broken because it doesn't include the (5e_Variant_Rule) for some reason, so copy paste instead of using the hyperlink)
It seems balanced and also wildly expanded upon from 50 results to 300.
Like this table here:

PS: I am also a fan of Matt Colville :D
Thank you very much for showing interest Cilv
I have gone ahead and sent you a private message so we can discuss further.
Hope to hear from anyone else interested as well!
Hiya all that might be interested!
Hope to hear from anyone interested!
Thank you to all those that showed interest, we have now found a new member for the Sunday group. Should any of you still be interested in any of my other campaigns then feel free to send me a message and inquire further.
