We are finishing out our current quest log, we'll say about 2 sessions on the long side of game time, before we will be opening our game for new players.
CURRENT PLAYERS ARE LEVEL 8, BASE YOUR CHARACTERS HERE, BUT BE READY TO HAVE THEM BE EITHER 9 OR 10 COME THE TIME YOU ARE ADDED TO THE GROUP.
EDIT 04/03/2018
We have lost our Barbarian PC due to life outside of the game taking precesence, and in turn are also possibly losing our DMs time on Sundays. The campaign may be dropping to only once a month, or at the most bi-weekly. If these changes cause concern and you wish to withdraw your application (s), I understand completely. No hard feelings at all.
Things to note, we are not against EVIL aligned characters, as long as it does not affect the overall group dynamic. HOWEVER, it is at the DM/GMs DISCRETION.
Our current party is an adventurer or two short, and could use help in our ongoing quest(s) for glory... or ya know.... other shenanigans!
Currently we have in our midst:
Angelic Paladin (Homebrew/DanDwiki resources)
Orc Bard (leaning on the Chaotic side but overall a good guy)
Human Rouge/Barbarian (She REALLY wanted to Rage and get advantage, pretty sure her multi-classing is done leveling here though at Lvl2 Barb)
Overall the party is fairly tanky in terms of AC, but the Rouge is squishy as well as the Bard.
We are lacking Magi, or at the very least a dedicated healer, but that should not affect what you would want to play. We are an incredibly open minded group in terms of players (but there are some Common Sense Rules), and would love to have some open discussion with our DM and you if you are interested!
We Conduct our Games Through Both Roll20 and Discord, there is no changing that as it is how we have been playing for over a year now. (This game has only been going several months, but 2 players and the DM have been playing together for over a year now)
If you are interested, you can contact me either here or on Discord via @Grim_Motive#8154 and I will run the messages by my DM so he can pre-screen the choices!
Look forward to hearing from you, yeah you, the one contemplating submitting an application! Take a chance, and roll with it!
Things to include in your messages/posts;
Your (Real) Name and Age
A brief bio on yourself and your D&D experiences
Your Character Name
Age, Class, Alignment
Backstory (Our DM loves details, and if they are missing? He WILL fill in the blanks to surprise you and bring fruit to your story to pluck)
What you expect from a DM and Session (RP heavy, Combat Heavy, 50/50 or Roll Play and let the dice decide it all)
2. Played D&D when deployed overseas in Afghanista, some ghetto scratch paper stuff, so I'm new to playing online.
3. Jikel Duskwalker
4. 30 Cleric Lawful Neutral
5. Backstory I use: -Jikel is the sole survivor of the 61st Purple Dragoons heroic defense of Eagle Peak against a mind flayer Alhoon hoping to attain Illithi-Lich status. Jikel was Sword Captain of the 1st Company, 61st Purple Dragon Mounted Infantry, and second in command of the Regiment of 200. His unit was originally tasked with repelling any attacks by a newly formed Goblin and Orc confederacy forming in the Storm Horn mountains of Cormyr, but what would instead take place would change Jikel's life forever. -The attack came at dawn, around 1000 goblins and 300 orcs attacked the town of Eagle Peak. The Commander of the Regiment, and Jikel's sworn battle-brother, the Purple Dragon Knight Sir Keaton, realizing the they could not defend their position forever, instead launched a counter-attack to allow the villagers time to escape down the hidden mountain passes on the Dragoons' horses, knowing the 61st Dragoons would die to the last man, but knew it was their duty to protect the people of Cormyr. -The counter-attack descended into a killing field though shortly after it began, with the different factions of orcs and goblins fighting the Dragoons as well as each other, but something profane was afoot. As the goblins and orcs fell, they began to rise again, undead and intent to increase their ranks further, absolute anarchy ensued. -As the chaos descended further the Purple Dragoons found themselves fighting side by side with the Goblins and Orcs not enthralled by the mind flayer Alhoon and their undead cohorts. The heroic final stand of the Dragoons would become urban myth, with Jikel and Keaton leading the final assault against the Alhoon and its elite guard as they arrived on the battlefield to claim victory and begin the ritual needed for the mind flayer to reach Illithi-Lich status. -Jikels body was broken, his leg crushed, his chest being eaten by necrotic magic. He refused to accept death though, the profanity and evil of the situation was overwhelming, but he used his rage to keep himself alive, truly fearing death. Strage grey and black energy began swirling about as Jikel clung to life, as the Alhoon was finalizing his ascension to Lich status, in a profane ritual of its enthralled servants ritually killing themselves and arising again undead. Jikel knew the souls of his brother Purple Dragons would be consumed in this profane ritual and refused to allow that to happen while he still drew breath. Summoning his final strength he lunged forward at the Ahoon, striking not only the creature but its phylactery with his Glaive. The Alhoon's psychich shriek burned into Jikel's mind, and he felt the Alhoon's hand against his face as his vision faded. -The next thing Jikel knew, he was standing before Kelemvor, to have his soul weighed as a faithless man. Jikel declared he that he refused to be accept judgment by the God of Death that would allow the evil and profanity that had taken his life and the life of his brothers. Kelemvor was bemused by this mortal but respected and appreciated Jikel's courage ans sense of honor in the face of his judgment. Kelemvor instead spoke to Jikel directly , a rarity when judging mortals, saying simply "Take the Oath of the Doomguide, serve me, and I will grant you my justice and my mercy." Jikel awoke on the deserted remains of the battlefield, surrounded by villagers who had returned to gather supplies and see the outcome of the battle after the Alhoon and his new undead army had departed back underground to the Underdark, along with the Army's newest addition, 200 men of the 61st Purple Dragoons, with Sir Keaton leading as an undead commander. After convincing the villagers he was not undead, which was not helped by his half drow heritage and ashy grey skin the villagers described how they had seen Jikel emerge from a portal hours after disappearing from the world after striking the Alhoon. -When a group of Purple Dragon Knights arrived to investigate the whereabouts of the 61st Dragoon, the villagers told them what had happened, and how Jikel had seemingly survived. They took him to the capital where in a secretive meeting with the Queen, he told his tale, and presented to the Royal Doomguide of Cormyr, responsible for Royal and Noble funerals in the Kingdom. Jikel was taken by the Priest of Kelemvor to the Tower of Skulls to begin his training. Now 10 years later, Jikel leaves the Tower of Skulls to embark on his mission to destroy the Illithi-Lich that stole his brothers lives and to serve Kelemvor as his Justice and his Mercy.
6. I like a session with great story telling and people actually role playing their characters, sometimes they just just let themselves get lost in the sake of playing the quest. Conflict, Tension, and Stakes make for a great story, not a simple go and fetch quesst. I like DM's to be creative and not give into the easy tropes of the genre.
I haven't gotten to play much but I know the rules well

my parents were on there way to a monastery to visit an old friend of there's when a group of barbarians killed them. I was only a baby and luckily i was rescued by the monks. with no home or family i lived the the monastery and the monastery became my home. i never liked the quiet life of monks but i had nowhere to go and no life outside of the monastery. at the age of 30 when I finished my martial arts training I stole a map and ran. I found a small elf town in the middle of a forest and stayed there of a couple of years fighting back against barbarian attacks and what not. And that brings us to where I start

I think i would like a 50/50 between RP and combat
Been playing D&D as well as a lot of other rpgs for years. Love the role play aspect of the game.
20 years old/ Halfling swashbuckler/ CG
Brandaval Ghent lost his family to a storm at sea at young age. He was raised by his grandmother, Admiral Redjack Rhanni. Rhanni is a notorious pirate turned privateer. Many pirates and raiders were filled with dread upon seeing the crimson sails of her armada. Never demanding special treatment, Brand served as crew among rogues and scoundrels and earned both their respect and friendship. Brand learned seamanship, navigation, and swordplay from his Gran. On his seventeenth birthday, Redjack threw a party for her Grandson. When he awoke Brandaval found himself adrift in a dingy. In a chest he found his armor, weapons, a handful of gold, and a note which read "I'm proud of what you've become. Now go and take your place in the world.". With a smile and a shrug, Brand began rowing towards shore.
I like a heavy amount of Roleplay but sometimes a bit of the 'ol hack and slash can be fun too.

I always prefer a full bottle in front of me than a full frontal lobotomy.
Only played D&D on Fantasygrounds as a player or DM in-person. All of characters have up to this point been mostly human or half-orc so I'm looking to try some new.
Alain Olyrr
177, Warlock, Neutral Evil (Keeps quiet about his desire to bring the Great Old One into the world to usher an eternity of darkness.)
Alain Olyrr began his path facinated by ancient knowledge. This led to many of Faerun's great libraries where buried in an obscure wing of a minor library Alain's mind was opened to the presence of the Great Old One. The even was traumatising and for years after Alain wandered, broken. As he regained his senses his mission became clear to him. He must wait until his master sends him a sign that it is time to act. Until then he knows he must maintain the fiction that this world is not doomed, and in fact can be saved. To preserve the fiction Alain seeks groups whose intent is to stop evil doers, until he hears the call.
I would like to see 3-4 hour long sessions that have a 50/50 mix of RP and combat; both are fun and move character development forward. I like a DM that is open to questions.
I'm in the army right now. I've been in the army for 4 year, I'm deployed right now. just getting into DnD, playing DnD for a month still new though.
Kallista
20, Monk,Chaotic Good
Backstory
As long as I remember my mother told me stories of her old master and friends on the sea. At the age of 15 is when we where attack a strange monster. My mother saved my life at the cost of her life, her formal master and friends found me and saved me from the monster but never could finish. Now training under the same master to walk the path of the monk though the way of the elements, five years later, I left him and the crew to seek vengeance on that monster.
I haven't played D&D since I was in the Navy...Way back in 2nd Edition, lol. Have been wanting to get back into it.
I have a couple of options in mind for my character, both are Neutral Good and around 30-ish.
Helorin, the Air Genasi Kensai Monk.
Aquilan, the Water Genasi Tempest Cleric.
I typically didn't go into too much detail on backstory, until they live to see a couple of levels, but something along the lines of...
Helorin's pregnant human mother was (as expected) abandoned and forgotten by his Djinn father after conception. She was left to fend for herself and her soon to arrive child. Helorin grew up in the slums of Neverwinter, hating his "father" more with each year of life and with each beating he took. He was found and taken into the Order of The Sun Soul, in Waterdeep. There he learned calm, peace, and focus. This side of him is constantly at war with the torrential maelstrom of his Elemental ancestry...
Aquilan's mother was a fisher, serving on her family's boat in the waters off the coast of Waterdeep. Just as her family has done for generations. One day, while trying to bring the catch on-board before the coming storm claimed it, her, and the boat, she was swept overboard by a rogue wave. As she struggled to free herself from the netting that seemed intent on bringing her deeper, she saw a glimmer in the darkness below. Captivated, her struggles weakened, just as her lungs emptied. As the life was leaving her body, the light left her eyes, and the precious air left her lungs, the approaching glimmer smiled. The was the last thing she remembered, before being awoken by the resident Selunite clergy in the Starry Cradles Orphanage...
I'm pretty open, as far as play-style goes. GM or Dice can decide!.
Edit has been made to include current party level (cant believe I forgot that, fairly important detail) so keep this in mind for characters as higher starting levels (especially for mages!) can be pretty daunting when picking spells etc.

I've been an avid gamer since forever and I've always wanted to try DnD. Finally found a group of 4 other friends, we started a little homebrew campaign a couple months ago on discord/roll20 as everyone's first time. We all love it, but we are only able to get together on Mondays. I would like to find another game that runs on Wednesdays, works well with my and my SO's schedule. - I was thinking of a different Wednesday group when I wrote this; I am available on Sunday evenings.
Timothy "The Brave" Garvin
19, Wizard, Neutral Good
Timothy was born and raised in a small agriculture/farming village. He spent most of his time reading and studying books about wizards and the arcane arts - the few that he could convince the local traders to grab in the weeks they were out. Since the village was largely self-sustained and work driven, Timothy was bullied and ridiculed through his childhood and teenage years. Never being able to muster more than a few sparks or a flicker of flame, it seemed his dreams of wizardry would soon cease. But one stormy night his village was besieged by a demon. While everyone was fleeing from the attack, Timothy wound up cornered by the demon. Mustering all of his energy and focus, he felt a spark forming at his fingertips; a loud crackle followed by agonizing screaming followed. In a stroke of luck, lightning struck right where the demon was standing. The nearby villagers who heard this altercation turned to look - they saw a dead demon and Timothy standing there with the little bit of arcane energy flowing around his hand. In the eyes of the village, Timothy had single-handedly slain the demon. They encouraged him to leave the village and further his study in wizardry, in the hopes he would bring some small fame to their quaint home. Not wanting to tell them the truth now that he was no longer shunned, he hesitantly set out to accomplish what he could. (The general vibe here is a fairly novice wizard where things always seem to work out through sheer luck, but it always seems it was his own doing. This makes for a fairly awkward character that isn't power-optimized, but sounds like something fun to play with the use of Portent and possibly the Lucky feat. The specific backstory is very open, but the premise of an average joe with an interest in the arcane being mistaken for a naturally adept magic user from sheer happenstance is intriguing to me. It may seem a bit cliche, and I would love to brainstorm a bit more with someone to make it more unique and/or interesting.)
Since I'm somewhat new to DnD, a 50/50 or even slightly combat heavy campaign feels more natural/easy and I would say is preferred. I'm certainly learning to get more into character and be much more open in my approaches to situations. Breaking the chains of video games and embracing the nature of tabletop/PnP definitely has a learning curve, but I would absolutely join a more RP focused campaign with the right people.
Avid gamer, dm, video game player and artist. I've played d&d for about six years now and I've been on both sides of the dm screen. I'm big into roleplay and story, and do a lot of that in my free time.
Orianna Chant [Tiefling]
23, Warlock or Cleric (Depends on the needs of the party but it would be hexblade or grave domain), Chaotic Neutral
(Here is a very brief version of what I have for her, since I don't know the world she is in.) Born to a noble family and as the only heir, Orianna grew up sheltered in the walls of Chant Manor. She was well-educated as a child and grew up with aspirations to follow her father's footsteps into the arcane as a wizard. Her entrance to the academy was cut short at the age of 22. She was in the city late when her life thread was cut. Lured out by an unknown being, she was killed and her body left on the evening streets. Either pity or purpose brought her wronged soul to the attention of beings much more powerful than she. Orianna was saved by fate, given her life back to become champion or pawn to the being who saved her.
I prefer rp heavy, though I'm good with a 50/50 split.
2. I've been DMing LMoP for a group of fellow newbies, I've never played as a character but I've watched many, many games and have a general understanding of the rules
3. Vesta Cahill
4. 135, Hal-Elf Ranger, Chaotic Good
5. I don't have a super specific backstory for Vesta, but I have a general idea that can always be expanded upon.
Vesta grew up in the forests of Faerun, wandering them with her mother and learning to live off the land. While they were living near Thundertree, she was nearly killed by the Undead as they overran the town. Her mother never told her outright, but she knows that she was about to cross over when she was finally healed This near-death experience has given her an appreciation for life, however she will never forget the sounds her friends made when the Undead caught up to them. Due to this traumatic experience, one of her favored foes is Undead.
6. I am looking for 50/50, but leaning more one way or the other wouldn't bother me at all.
Not sure when, but some messages may start rolling out here soon, so here is a notification and bump to bring you guys back to make any last minute changes or tweaks, as well as bring in a fresh group of apps!
Best of luck to you all!

It may perhaps be too late for me to do this but I am going to go ahead and take a shot in the dark.
1. Jhelyssa, 18
2. I have been in quite a few short lived campaigns. Two of which have been on roll20 and I am willing to relearn how to use the site.
3. Rhysand Duvainor (I usually prefer making male characters, if that is an issue I can make a female character)
4. 120, High Elf Bloodhunter, Lawful Neutral
5. If anything needs to be changed or if the DM wishes to add to it, I have no problem with that.
Rhysand Duvainor is the result of a union between a Sun Elf named Elenril fleeing her dull life among the nobility and a traveling Moon Elf bard named Orodon. He lived a comfortable and happy childhood full of wanderlust as his parents traveled from place to place performing, his mother would dance while his father sang and played the lute. Despite being the son of two performers, Rhysand had creativity in a different manner, he had a passion for drawing and writing. He would help his father write his lyrics and assist his mother with coming up with costume concepts. It was at the age of twelve when his bubble of innocence was permanently popped, while on the road a griffin attacked their caravan. His parents fought valiantly to protect their son and they died protecting him. The beast too wounded from the fight, spared him and took off. Rhysand was left traumatized from witnessing the event and he never left their bodies for hours, he even did his best to defend their corpses from scavenging animals. In fact when he was found by Zunir a half-orc bloodhunter, he was trying to swing a sword at a pair of coyotes who had gotten too close. Zunir managed to drive the beasts off before he told the boy that he was here there to offer him a choice. Either Rhysand could go to an orphanage or he could come with him and get revenge for his family. What Rhysand did not know till years later was that the true reason why Zunir had taken him in was because he that griffin had been his contract to kill and rather slay the beast immediately the half orc had wasted the day and night away in drink and the company of women. The bloodhunter had felt a need to at least make a right out of his wrongs. In the weeks that followed, Zunir taught Rhysand the basics of sword fighting, archery, and tracking. His skills were put to the test when he assisted his new mentor in tracking down and killing the very beast that had killed his parents. In the aftermath Zunir gave him another choice he could still go into an orphanage and live a mundane life or he could continue his training under him to become a blood hunter and do his best to prevent others from losing family to monsters like he had.
Rhysand chose the latter and as the years went by the happy boy who had loved art grew into a young man skilled with sword and eager for the hunt. Zunir became not only a mentor but also a foster father to him and two developed a strong bond. Through his blood, sweat, and tears Rhysand survived his rigorous and grueling training to become a true blood hunter. Once he was twenty-one , Zunir helped him forge his own sword and led him through the blood ritual to empower the blade with the elf's own vitality. Rhysand named the blade Lókë which is Elvish for snake or dragon. The sword cuts as swiftly as the former and strikes as hard as the latter. Before sending him off to live his life Zunir entrusted him with a few things besides the sword: a ring he had found on the body of Orodon, a simple bracelet of glass beads he had gotten from the body of Elenril, and the half orc's own flask. This way the elf would always have the three of the most influential people of his life with him. With a tearful goodbye, the two went their separate ways and Rhysand would not see his mentor again until some years later when he would share the stories of his travels to Zunir during the last night of the orcs life. Since then the High Elf has traveled from place to place taking on beast and on more than a few occasions man for coin and whenever his payment is received he always gives a bit of it to an oprhanage or to a child he sees in need.
6. I am looking for a good balance of roleplay and action. As much as I love the fights, I also really like to take the time to enjoy the NPCs or other player's characters and the interactions that are happening.
2. never played before trying to get into a campaign
3.Horik Gothgar
4.92,male, hill dwarf, chaotic neutral
5. Horik was a rebel when he was young getting into large fights and then become himself what parents would call the wrong crowd he was the one dwarf no-one messed with until his Five foot brother came along being one of the larger dwarves helped Durkwen Gothgar to take over the hill's surrounding the home of Horik. That is until Horik decided to join the military of his homeland this would be a defining choice in Horiks life and Horik stayed in until he was 84. After leaving the military he became a drunkard living in the bottom of his flagon he stayed this way till he was 91 and finally after drinking off his pay from the army he took to mercenary work and that is how Horik Gothgar became the dwarf he is today.
6. I am looking for more of the action side of the game so that I could learn the combat system after learning that I would be fine with moving into a more 50/50 approach to the split between combat and roll play.

Edit has been made to include current party level (cant believe I forgot that, fairly important detail) so keep this in mind for characters as higher starting levels (especially for mages!) can be pretty daunting when picking spells etc.

Born to a noble family and as the only heir, Orianna grew up sheltered in the walls of Chant Manor.

1. michael/mike, 13
2. never played before trying to get into a campaign
