Game: D&D 5e Group type: Online Experience: Veteran Location/Timezone: GMT+8 (Singapore time) Schedule: Wednesdays 7:30pm Roles sought: 4-5 players Game style: LGBTQ+ friendly, mix of roleplay and combat
An age of glory; an age of injustice.
Due to an accident of its geography, one city, Leycross, has gained access to unrivalled magical technology, called 'quickening'. This technology has won it an empire: its diplomats have made vassals of the neighbouring Human nations; its soldiers have trod the Dragonborn of Ushradia beneath their boots; its citizens have pushed back the local Orcs to swamplands on the coast.
None can compete with the power and prestige of Leycross, the Quickened City—not even the once-mighty Tiefling Empire of Cthai.
But the world is about to change...
Hi everyone!
Experienced DM based in Singapore looking for players for a long-term campaign set in a highly detailed homebrew world, starting at level 2.
The setting is one where most of the world has medieval technology, but one Human-majority city has uniquely progressed to early-twentieth-century magical tech.
There's more about the setting, including its lore, Gods, species and geography in this Google drive folder:
Feel free to check it out, but don't feel you need to read all of it.
The campaign will consist of a fairly equal balance of roleplay and combat, and the stakes will grow as your characters progress.
We'll use D&D Beyond for character sheets and dice rolls, TaleSpire for battle maps and Hero Forge for digital minis. You won't need to buy anything. You can take a look at some example battle maps and minis in the Drive folder.
We'll play using Zoom, with video on. (I know most groups use Discord, but I've used Zoom with my other group and it works just fine. If people strongly prefer Discord, we might switch to it after a while.)
Tone
Serious things are happening in the world, and they will require a serious response. Along the way, we will laugh a lot and no doubt do many silly things—but this is not a joke or meme campaign.
Similarly, your character needn't aspire to selfless heroism, but they should want to make the world better, not worse.
Character Creation
Your character must:
want to go on adventures
want to work with other people
expect their actions to have consequences
not be racist, sexist, trans- or homophobic, classist, etc. Certain NPCs will exhibit prejudice based on imaginary species, imaginary religions, and class, but your character must not.
Only PHB races are available. Humans, Halflings, Elves, Half-Elves, Dwarves and Half-Orcs are common in the starting city; Dragonborn, Tieflings and especially Gnomes are not, and their backstories will have to reflect this—we'll work it out together.
Many of the subraces will be slightly homebrewed based on the ones in the Player’s Handbook, so please choose a PHB subrace first and we’ll work out the tweaks later. Do note that Underdark subraces (Drow, Duergar and Svirfneblin) are not available.
All official classes (not counting Blood Hunter) and nearly all official subclasses are allowed.
For stats, we'll use the array 16, 15, 14, 12, 10, 8.
Multiclassing is allowed, starting at level 4—but you must take at least three levels in the new class over your next six levels.
See 'Rules' in the Drive folder for more details about all of this.
