Let me start off by saying, Hello d&d beyond! I am Gideon Burkheart, a simple bard spinning some tales for interested party members. I will admit that I have not ran a game of 5e before but I have ran numerous 3.x games as well as what I generally use in my irl games, Pathfinder 1e. So this will certainly be a bit of a change for me. If I accidentally forget a rule or possibly think of Pathfinder material I will profusely apologize 😅. I have definitely played some games of 5e but not many and I've made plenty of characters on like myth-weavers so I'm not totally unfamiliar with the system at least.
Due the newly released stat blocks for some Minecraft creatures, I'm itching to put something together. I had made a short post on general discussion but it seems much more fitting here. However I don't really have anything formally put together for a game but I'm very intrigued to see if there would be any player interest in such a game. I'm a huge Minecraft player but being a newer GM I will probably tend to stick with more generic quest ideas and gameplay; such as survival, taking out a pillager outpost for village elder, or simply getting through mobs while exploring caves. Once I get into the swing of things I will delve into a legitimate story arc for players. Looking at my previous games it may be reminiscent of Minecraft:Dungeons or Story Mode. Big bad evil magic stuff, world shattering drama, and all the goofiness you could ask for lol
Some more specifics: As many of you have already seen there's also a d&d dlc coming for Minecraft in the coming months but I'm a little more interested in trying to incorporate such a game into D&D 5e. I'm sure it's already been done by plenty of people but I want this to feel a little more like my own. The front and center info seems straight forward enough. Each block represents a 5x5 square on any maps I would create. Each material has its own hardness and hit points to get through when mining and stuff. Villagers could easily just be humans + other varied races from 5e. Players would be able to pick from a list of Minecraft mobs like Chickens, cows, Squids for find familiar (and of course wolves lol)
What I really like is that players would simply just need to gather the materials needed to create certain tools and voila you can start smithing, magic crafting, masonry, etc. Depending on what players would like we could always put some limitations on it like the character needing the proficiency to then be able to use whatever workbench properly.
As I said before, this clearly isn't fully fleshed out so by all means ask question or just simply give your character ideas! I will be working to build more on this so any questions you have may just help me world build lol It would also seem wise to say that character backgrounds should more than likely end with something along the lines of, "Such And Such ended up stranded at sea and blacked out, but miraculously came to after they washed ashore an unknown land." Wether all of you wash ashore together or separately in even different regions maybe I will leave up to you the players.
[Character Creation Rules (so far...)]
1) Make a fairly standard First Level character of any class, race, and background. Point buy or Standard array you may choose.
2) I would advise you to spend every bit of gold as I plan on using emeralds for currency. If you do have any left over it disappears, but we can come up with something equivalent to give your character. Heck if you want to legit start out with nothing but clothes than we'll see what we come up with hahaha
3) We'll be using Milestone Leveling (as XP should probably just almost be like a currency for crafting magic and repairing at an anvil, no?)
4) To be added onto later because I'm sure I'll think of more stuff to write later after I've eaten lol
im interested in the minecraft and dnd bits, not so much with the starting at level 1 bit. i prefer starting at level 3, so i can get the subclass. if i start at 3, then im in

How can I delete a post? No interest in the game so far, not even many views, so may as well take it down.
