I have a homebrew game that just lost a longtime friend due to illness. We need a player to fill his slot, and your time slots look reasonable for our group. We are west coast, but we start usually at 6pm PDT, and that would be 8pm for you. We generally go 2 hours a session. Usually weekly, but if life gets in the way we may skip a week or two.
Our game is multi-faceted: space exploration, world exploration, politics, evil and benign organizations, lots of subplots to go with the main plot, etc. Your character would be complex and extremely wise and intelligent. It would take me a while to explain and fill you in on the intricacies of the game. The main plot right now is the group is seeking the lost eye of Odin on a parallel Earth. We have 3 other longtime pc's, and you would be the 4th. The story is complex, but you would be at the start of a new mission, so you could start right in and be able to follow along.
The 60/40 balance is pretty close to what the campaign is, so I think you would enjoy it. We game online at Roll20.com, and you wouldn't have to pay any money to join us. Rules-wise, we base it on the old 3.5 DnD rules, but they are easy to learn with the very explanative character sheets I developed. We also incorporate Pathfinder, D20 modern, some psionics, and some homebrew rules that are explained as they come up. I don't like to let the mechanics of the game get in the way of the fun. Your character would be challenging to manage (as it should be), but the game mechanics are not challenging. I want all the pc's to be concerned about how to handle the various situations of the story, not be worrying about the rules.
If you are only interested in playing an evil character, it won't work. I need all the pc's to be good-aligned. Whether you are lawful, neutral, or chaotic good is up to you.
Honestly, that sounds like alot of fun. Would you need me to build a character or do you need me to pick up the character for storyline reasons. Either is okay with me. I am more than okay with not playing evil. I only do so when the point is to run an evil campaign.
I am sorry for your loss.
My timeslots are slightly more varied than I posted, it just depends on my time with my daughter. When it comes to this tho, I will be very communicative if I have to temporarily change time.
How does everyone communicate with eachother throughout the weeks?
You are very perceptive in that we need a specific type of character to fit into the storyline. Here are some of the specifics:
You are of a very ancient race in the galaxy. Zochquan. Zochquans are sea creatures similar to our ocean skates. That is you look like a manta ray, but you have a shark-like tail. Oceans are your home, and freshwater is okay too. You are air bouyant if the planet's gravity is less than our Earth. You can breath air and water equally well. Because of the vast amount of time Zochquans have evolved, they communicate telepathically with each other and various other beings that have telepathic abilities. To get things done physically, another planetary race does the heavy lifting--so to speak--under the directions of the Zochquans. Another method that Zochquans employ is the ability to enter their intellects into other host beings. The host must have intelligence in order for the transference to take place. Your body goes dormant, and you assume all of the hosts abilities and you stack your attributes to the host. It can make for a very powerful being when you assume a host depending on their training and abilities. Zochquans are now very advanced both mentally and technologically.
Until just recently, Zochquans abstained from interfering with races on other worlds. But it became abundantly clear that there were extremely hostile races on other worlds that do all sorts of abhorrent things to other races. It was simply too much to ignore. Your team is the first foray into the galaxy to handle all the complexities of averting interplanetary wars, stopping enslavement, stopping piracy, etc. Your team travels the galaxy on a Drifter-class battleship that is very formidable.
Two major missions ago, your team overtook and rendered a titan-sized ship being built by Blood Pirates. (Think of the size of the Death Star in Star Wars.) It was quite an adventure. While onboard this titan ship, your team discovered a small band of quasits that were fabricating an evil cloak under the direction of a powerful demon. This was just a side story, but it led to more adventures. This evil cloak was classified as a relic, and its uses were extremely harmful. Being a relic, it could not be destroyed by normal means. Ultimately, this cloak was delivered to another alien race called the Mondoshawans. The Mondoshawans are very intelligent and have a knack dealing with relics that are too powerful to be used without leaving destruction along the way.
Getting the cloak to the Mondoshawans (Mondos) was another major adventure, and now your team has the mission to retrieve another powerful relic, the Eye of Odin. So your drifter battleship, the Proveden Sarissa, got you to a parallel Earth where this Eye is supposedly located. Your mission is to get this Eye and deliver it to the Mondoshawans before it is discovered again by the current civilizations on this Earth. Somehow it got lost and forgotten. The Eye's location is somewhere on the planet, but finding it is the adventure.
Bear in mind I left out a lot of details to keep this message's length reasonable.
On this Earth, your team was directed to host a team of mercenaries that do various missions in the Seattle area. This team is made up of American and Chinese ethnicities. These ethnicities open certain doors and leave others closed. The Mondos have foreseen that this group hosting you will eventually lead you to the Eye if your team takes the correct actions. So far, your team has accomplished three missions. There have been some mistakes made and some great strides in the previous three missions. Your team has expanded their missions to the Denver area. The fourth mission is about to take place.
Your host will be a Chinese gal by the name of Xing Zedong, but everyone calls her Blackbird. She is the leader of the group, is a female human, and she is a skilled investigator with a law enforcement background. This team has friendly ties to at least one law enforcement detective and to four Chinese triads, Octagon, The Eighty-Eights, Yellow Lotus, and the Red Dragons. She is closest to the Red Dragons. She is skilled with firearms and in Kung Fu. Hosting you, she will be much more!
Email me at wallinjd@yahoo.com. I will get you started on developing your character. To answer your question on how we communicate, it largely by email. I look forward to hearing from you again. I estimate that we will begin actual gaming around Sunday, April 28th. We just finished another campaign, so letting the others have a few weeks off.
I do want you to know that we are a pretty straight up group. No profanity, no adult or sexual stuff, we are polite to each other, etc. But the subject matter is at least PG. If your daughter is watching you game over your shoulder it shouldn't be an issue. I use a lot of pictures, maps, relevant background music, and many other details. We communicate both by text and audibly using our headsets. Meanwhile, you and I can use this interval to not only get you into your character, but to also bring you up to speed on what has transpired so far on this Earth.
